Marlo Bloxson, known as “Marlo Da Martian” or simply “Lo,” was born in Cleveland, Ohio to a musically driven family, with a unique creative rhythm in his blood. Since early childhood, music has guided Bloxson’s journey. Bloxson speaks of a particularly significant experience when he competed at age 9 in a Fisher-Price singing contest to win a PixelVision Camcorder. Although he didn’t win the competition, with his rendition of Ben E. Kings “Stand By Me”, he got his first taste of recognition and praise from both the judges and audience. Bloxson fell in love with that moment and became addicted to the magic of music.
After growing up listening to Al Green, The Isley Brothers, and James Brown playing from his father’s retro record player, Bloxson began his career as a singer and songwriter. Bloxson made his stage debut opening for James Brown at the age of thirteen. His soulful beginnings transitioned to an R&B-inspired focus with the influence of Boyz II Men, Stevie Wonder, and Prince. Between Bloxson’s repertoire, natural vocal talent, and early love of Hip-Hop and R&B, his music career as inevitable.
Bloxson’s variety of influences and experiences has given him the tools to expand and sharpen his remarkable song writing and production skills. Bloxson’s song writing skills are said to be light years beyond the rest. From poetic R&B to visionary EDM, from imaginative pop songs to stimulating Rap, Bloxson proves his ability to blend genres and write revolutionary songs.
In 2001, Bloxson earned the Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition and placed in the top ten of the John Lennon Songwriting contest. In 2000 and 2001, Lo’s energetic shows, in his hometown, earned him nomination for Cleveland Scene & Cleveland Free Times Music Awards. His musical resume includes having performed as the opening act for artists such as Cannibus, KRS-One, Raekwon, Avant, Redman & Method Man, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Lil Flip, and many more. Marlo has been a guest and resident performer at the Silver Nugget, Golden Nugget, and the Mirage Hotel & Casino. Bloxson has expanded his passion for music to include a career with the award-winning JAMMIN DJ’s as a top DJ in the Atlanta market. In his spare time, Bloxson enjoys anime, fixing computers, and having cookouts with friends. He has a beautiful daughter and makes family his first priority.
