Masquerade

SET UP:
Masquerade arrives on site with all needed equipment, with a professional looking make up case and makeup chair and easy to read design board. I need only a minimum 4'x5' space in your home or place of business (in some cases less if a table is provided).
If your event is outdoors, we do require shelter (tent), if you do not have adequate shelter you can rent Masquerade's tent for your event at an extra charge. If the tent is rented for an event 4 hours in length it is decorated complementary.

I arrive with a professional design board for all services, so that attendees can easily choose their face paint design, balloon design, glitter tattoo or nail designs.

Should you require a costumed artist, I can come dressed as a Clown, Princess, Fairy, Superhero, Elf, Mrs. Claus, 1800's period clothing, Witch, Silly Onsie for PJ parties, Basic Black Dress for Fancy occasions, Twister Suit, or in my basic Masquerade uniform. (etc...ask if I have a costume to go with your theme)
When I am booked, I do indicate how long you will approximately require me for, should you have extra guests or unforeseen circumstances (ie: stopping my service to open presents, eat cake, or might have children who are difficult) you can book extra time in 1/2 hour increments on the day of, but only if the artist does not have another event after yours, so please ensure you book with adequate time in case the artist has to leave right away.

Artist will interact with all guests and has a jovial manner, with 13 years experience with children I can handle almost any crowd. But Please be warned that I am not being employed as a babysitter and you will still need adult supervision in the area. Also not that children are not allowed to touch the artist's equipment, I do put up barriers, but as I often am focused on one child I can not monitor what the others might be doing.

Also note that I do not paint anyone who is under 2, or does not wish to be painted... So if smaller children are too wiggly, or anyone starts to feel apprehensive about meeting a stranger, I will try to paint or tattoo, but will stop if it doesn't seem to be working, I do not wish to create a bad experience for a child.

I also will not paint inappropriate symbols or body parts (unless this is a maternity belly appointment or a model photo shoot where breasts and abdomen can be painted), I will also not paint any one who has a contagious illness or skin condition (ie pink eye, active herpetic lesion, etc).

My paints, glues and glitters are cosmetic, hypoallergenic, and made from 100% FDA approve ingredients. I have never had a reaction reported before, but everyone is different and these things can happen. I recommend that If anyone has allergies or extremely sensitive skin; ask for a patch test at the beginning of the party or just abstain from being painted..

POST EVENT:
I will clean the area at the end of the event of all balloon debris, and take my garbage with me, but I will need a sink or outdoor area to dump my rinse water, (it is non toxic in nature, and I clean the sink prior to leaving so there will be no trace of paint).
I will also expect the remainder of the balance to be paid in full, please have it ready, sometimes it is hard to find a host or organizer at the end of a gig and I may not have time to find you, if I have another gig to attend.
***Please also note that I no longer accept personal checks. So the balance can be
1) paid the day before by e-transfer,
2) paid in cash on the day of,
3) paid by business check or
4) paid by credit card if I have my square on me . please inquire if this form of payment is available prior to your date.

I do accept and appreciate tips but they are not mandatory.

My name is Nicole and I've been an artist and children's entertainer for 20 years. I have my own children and have worked in childcare for numerous years as well.

As long as I can remember I have loved art, as a hobby I've painted countless canvas and Wall Murals a well as dabbled in sculpture. I started face painting as a teenager. I volunteered for my small village's community fun fairs and festivals.
It was instant love when I saw the joy it brought the children and adults, when they looked in the mirror.

After college I worked for 7 years in Toronto for a large company and when my department closed I was left unemployed and I became a stay at home mom. I love my children with every ounce of my being and every moment I spent with them was rewarding. But after my children were old enough to go to school, I started working part time at a day care and I eventually started working casually as a subcontractor for a few large party planning companies, and my love of face painting was renewed.

Although I am still subcontracting for various Birthday and Event Planners I have also opened my own company "MASQUERADE -face painting & party services" and I am committed to being the best in my area and I think it shows. I offer now a large array of services... and keep trying to add more. I am in awe of magic and bubbleology and hope to add these soon to my services

The great thing about hiring me is that customers can see the quality of the work I do and know exactly what they are paying for. For large events, when I hire other artists to assist me, I make sure I hire people who have high standards of cleanliness and are not novices in the field. BUT - When you hire from a large company, you never know who they will schedule for your venue. Will you get the painter they advertise on their website or a student who is only working there for the summer, with no insurance and doesn't have the speed and talent that a real professional has. The worst part is regardless of their level of expertise you pay the exact same fee.

That is why you should hire someone like me. My costs are usually at par with competitors or much lower than large birthday company's and I'm committed to giving you my best, because I want you to book me repeatedly. Usually when I have a client they become a repeat customer and many become friends.

The only technical requirement is good lighting, Please ensure the area where I will be painting has good lightening. If your event is an outdoor event at night I will require lighting and electrical hook up.
