Matt performs a Solo show either acoustically or with sequenced backup music. He can add musicians to perform as a duo, trio and all the way to full sized band that includes a horn section. Matt covers almost every genre from any era. Which means musics from the 50s/60s/70s/80s/90s/ and this century in most genres including Rock/Country/Pop/Blues and many more!

Matt provided a great selection of music and without any briefing he helped to promote our event between songs. Highly recommend and would work with him again. Thanks Matt!!

Matt Beatty is a born and bred Calgarian. Son of a local prominent musician, Matt was already familiar with the workings of the industry before picking up the guitar in high school. Having played drums, piano and saxophone up till the guitar caught his attention; Matt was able to grow rapidly as a performer. While concentrating on original music through his 20’s Matt learned valuable lessons on the craft of music before becoming a “cover” musician. From that point on as a full time professional musician Matt has created an enviable situation that enables him to both support his family and travel the world doing what he loves.
Matt’s greatest strength is his ability to play wide varieties of styles. Equally comfortable in Classic Rock, Country, East Coast and Top 40 Pop hits, Matt puts on a very diverse show experience. As he continues his musical life he has also managed to re-invent himself within those different genres. Some weeks may seem like a hectic juggling act from instrument to instrument, genre to genre, but Matt takes it all in stride and excels every time.
During the last 10 years Matt, as a solo and through his various bands including The Hot Tamales, 2nd String Cowboys, Hot O’Malley’s and HeadCase has performed at almost every venue in the Calgary area. As well Matt travels throughout western Canada and all over the world. Some of Matt’s favorite locations besides Alberta include the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Vladivostok Russia and most interestingly at the Cavern Club in Liverpool England. During this past decade Matt has performed at many of the region’s biggest functions for major oil and gas companies, political groups, benefits for local charities and some great events like the Calgary Corporate Challenge, Global Fest International Fireworks Competition and the Wayne Gretzky and Friends Golf Tournament.
Matt has also started back into recording original music. A couple of recent Christmas songs gathered favourable response. An instrumental performance of his song “Abigail” on the Paramount TV show “Joe Pickett” also opened some new doors.
Matt’s rockabilly group DoubleSuede released two singles in 2022 “Black Widow” and “Dive Bar Debutante” which received airplay as far away as France. The lyric video for “Black Widow” is a really fun vintage noir trip. Full EP released as of Jan 2023.
From the past and into the future Matt continues to perform around 200 plus shows a year and wants to add some more stamps in his passport. At every moment Matt is approachable, professional and easy to work with. Hopefully you’ll get a chance to see him either someplace close or someplace fun!
Depending on budgets Matt can bring full PA and lights for the solo show all the way up to a large club environment. Matt is also in contact with several great local sound companies for the larger shows. Those local sound companies also have ties to groups around the world.
