I am an Indie-Folk Americana artist that draws comparisons to Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers, and Lord Huron. I can perform from a huge list of covers and originals in the acoustic folk style or provide up to a four piece band.

A high energy set full of quirky covers & originals adapted to an Indie Folk Americana style.
Matt Krahula is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, producer, based out of Honolulu, HI.
He started his musical career at the Purchase Conservatory of Music, earning a Bachelor Degree in Classical Music Performance on Upright Bass, studying under Timothy Cobb (principal bassist of the New York Philharmonic).
After graduation, he started the Americana rock group, The Nightmare River Band (NRB), which took NYC by storm in the early 2010’s. Their sophomore album established Krahula as one of the top writers in the scene, landing him and NRB opening slots for The Last Bandoleros, The Legendary Shack Shakers, Robert Ellis, Tokyo Police Club, and many more. The album spent several weeks in the CMJ top 40, and the single, “Mary”, was nominated for an Independent Music Award (Best Alt Folk Song). The album went on to be featured in shows such as American Pickers, Say Yes to The Dress, Pawn Stars, and 9-1-1 on Fox. Although living worlds apart, the group has remained active, and is in the process of finishing a ten year anniversary reissue of their classic album, “Last Goodbye”.
After relocating to Oahu in 2018, Krahula landed a spot playing bass and singing with legendary Grammy Nominated Hawaiian musician, Henry Kapono. Since then he has split time performing as a solo artist, bassist, and studio musician. His quirky brand of Alt-Folk Americana has earned him residencies at some of the most popular bars and clubs on Oahu, and has garnered him opening slots for The Silversun Pickups & Frank Turner. He most recently was featured as one of Kapono's "Artists on the Rise". His solid reputation as one of the most dependable sidemen in town has found him performing with the likes of Henry Kapono, John Cruz, Tavana, Hook and Line, & Johnny Helm. His work as a studio musician most recently took him to Hollywood, where he was the upright bassist/ music consultant on the EMMY Nominated Score for HBO’s Station 11.
