10+ year veteran improv comedian known for long and short improv formats. Experience in stand-up, sketch, and other comedic media
Part of The Bitter And, Cliffnotes Improv, Florida Studio Theatre, the American Stage teaching roster and guest to many groups/shows.
Has played on stages all over the US (iO West, Second City LA, Nerdist School, ImprovBoston, The PIT NY, The Comedy Bar Chicago, Snappers, Tampa Improv, and more) with big names in improv and comedy in general.
He is a great host, an inspiring improviser, and a valuable asset to any show. His humor could be described as off-beat, odd, and intellectually stupid.
He is also an experienced improv team-building instructor.
Walker’s a powerful performer. He does all the things well, and isn’t annoying about it. He’s a pro and always brings new ideas. Every show I’ve seen him at, the crowd loves him: singing, improvising, stand-up and acting. It’s a tribute to his craft dedication. I’d cast and hire him again, definitely.
Response from Matt Walker:
Thanks for the kind words Natasha!

If I am performing improv with your event, you can expect an engaging, committed, and energetic performer leading the show/set into a wild and interactive mental obstacle course for both audience and performer. I work hard to get everyone to have fun alongside me.
With stand-up you will be laughing, but you won’t be sure why. I am considered an alternative comic. My jokes are off-beat, my delivery is odd, and people call me intellectually stupid- or moronically smart.
In corporate/teaching situations I am professional and concise. I understand how to garner attention while still maintaining a mutual respect. My expertise in this field is extensive and my lesson plans are fun while being mindful of each group’s goals and intentions.
I grew up in St. Petersburg, FL and went to college there as well. I began performing improv comedy at my alma mater with the school's group Another Man's Trash. This group taught me the basics of improv but the year I coached and directed the group is really when I became the improviser I am today.
After graduating college in 2013 I joined a group, The Third Thought (Tampa's longest running long-form improv team), and was with them until March of 2014. I went and lived in Hollywood, CA where I joined an independent group (Marquis) that performed mainly at iO West and Second City, which was coached by Cherry's, Michael Garcia. During that time I got an internship at the Nerdmelt Showroom at Meltdown Comics, doing theater work. This theater became my home for the next year.
You might vaguely know the name, but this is where Kumail Nanjiani and Jonay Ray hosted their weekly stand up show The Meltdown. I had seen John Mulaney, Doug Benson, Josh Fadem, Guy Branum, Brandon Wardell, Zach Galifinakis, Johnny Pemberton, Sam Jay and so many more very well-known comics perform in a very intimate setting. This also allowed me the opportunity to work at JashFesht in Palm Springs (which was amazing). Around then is when my podcast Beer Milkshake began.
During my time there I was on another improv group called Best Friends based out of the Pack Theater. We earned a weekly slot and performed around the usual suspects (iO, Second City, Impro Theater, The Clubhouse). We were coached by Red Door's Ryan Marsico. It was around this time I took my very first Upright Citizen's Brigade class with David Barton Harris.
Ever since returning in late 2016, I have rejoined The Third Thought, began hosting and producing The Estate Show, regularly taught improv concepts on Tuesdays at Jungle Bill's Tiki Grill, performed stand up at open mics in Chicago, Charleston, and Tampa, have written and performed sketch comedy with Millennial Fresh based out of Sarasota, performed at various festivals with The Third Thought, as well as Millennial Fresh, and have taught corporate improv workshops with Will Luera at FST.
My current projects are an improv newsletter called Little Bits and Pieces, working with FST Improv, running the Never No Show out of Studio@620 and helping out the improv community any way I can.
For improv:
Nothing* is needed beyond a dedicated space for performers to perform and seats for the audience.
*For larger rooms, amplifications will be needed.
For stand-up:
Typically a microphone, a mic-stand, a seat, and a sound system is needed. I have all the equipment needed but for a higher event price.
For corporate/teaching scenarios:
Every event is different and has unique needs. We will discuss your specific event and what works for you.
