A Spanish and Classical guitar performer, the professional services of Matt Bacon include music for weddings, corporate events, cocktail hours, ceremony and receptions, dinner parties, wineries, and fundraiser events.
As a guitarist active in the San Francisco Bay Area, look no further than hiring Matt as your personal musician. The best in the Bay Area - the proof is in the reviews, recordings, bookings, and a flair for accommodating and timely communication!
We had Matt perform live spanish music in our community. He is an excellent guiatarist! Very entertaining, professional and knowledgable as well.
We had a cocktail party/dinner/auction for 120 people outside at a private home last weekend and Matt provided a perfect accompinament! He's an awesome musician, was a great communicator, arrived on time, worked with me as we moved from the cocktail area to the dinner seating, and seemed to know what I wanted before I did! I would highly recommend Matt!
We hired Matt for two separate events at UC Hastings (an alumni dinner and a journal launching) and he was an excellent performer and great to work with.
Matt arrived super early and started right on time at both events. He is an excellent communicator and provided + requested all the necessary information for each of the events early on. His Spanish guitar performance was excellent and everyone at the events praised his music.
I will most definitely hire Matt for future performances and highly recommend him for all types of events. He is flexible and very accommodating depending on your specific needs for an event.
Thank you for sharing your talent with all of us, Matt.
I recently planned a wedding dinner and wanted to blow away the crowd. I've eaten more than a few French dinners while live classical guitar was performed, but never before by someone of Matthew's caliber. His reviews seemed good so we exchanged a few emails before booking. He's great to "talk" with and a lot of fun. But a true professional as well and he helped me fine tune a few things to achieve what I wanted. He arrived before us and was all set up without us having to worry about anything, as he promised. Then the music started and it was everything I remembered but better. I was thinking the crowd didn't really appreciate his playing during the conversation but I got my satisfaction when the first round of applause broke out at the end of Leyenda. I asked him to play that at a certain time and he did without me reminding him. More rounds of applause later that night. When it came time for him to leave according to our agreement, he discreetly asked if I wanted him to play his favorite song and of course I said yes. Another favorite song for me and since it was something of a gift, it was the most appreciated
My fiance and I asked Matt to play guitar for our beach wedding last weekend, and we are super pleased with his gig with us. Matt was amendable in every aspect of the preparations for the gig, showed up early (despite horrible traffic that day), and played just as expected. He's a warm, approachable guy, and fit in perfectly with our warm, friendly crowd. We're moving to NYC in a week, but we'll definitely look up Matt if we're back in the Bay Area and on the hunt for a great musician. Bravo, Matt!
It's been five months since the wedding and I just ran into a friend who was there. He was more interested in the music than anything else.
I wouldn't have changed a thing; the solo guitar on that beautiful mountaintop for the ceremony, the magical combination of sax and guitar for drinks, and the big band for the party. Your were great, Matt. Thanks again.
Matt was great to work with from the moment we reached out to him to play at our wedding. He did an amazing job and we are so happy we hired him to play acoustic guitar at our wedding. He definitely added a special touch to our day!
I had the pleasure of seeing Matt 2 times this past week. He is an amazing musician and I can't wait to see him again. Also Matt is extremely approachable and a pleasure to speak with.

Matt is a fantastic guitarist who is sure to please you in every way. He is very professional and always comes on time. He plays a wide variety of music that will be sure to complement your event.
A fantastic musician and overall a cool guy. Matt was exceptional at communicating with me throughout the planning process and was able to make suggestions about musical pieces that would be appropriate for each part of the wedding evening. He was professional and outgoing. So many of our guests commented on how beautifully he played the guitar. We were so happy to have him at our event!
The prelude was 19 minutes. The ceremony lasted 16 minutes. Matt played exactly what the bride & groom asked of him. His guitar music was calm, soothing and classical.
I booked Matthew to play for the memorial service of a friend's father, as his favorite music had been classical guitar and he'd especially enjoyed Segovia. He arrived early, set up quickly, and did a masterful job with Leyenda. My friend was relieved, prior to the service, at how smoothly the arrangements were made. And her mother continues to talk about how much she appreciates Matthew's contribution to the service.
Matt's unassuming, professional presence at a wedding where I recently officiated was a great gift for the whole experience. His playing is superb, he is appropriately sensitive to the needs of the venue, and he brings a kind regard for his audience.
I contacted Matt via email regarding the possibility of playing at our son's wedding. He responded promptly and contacted the bride in order to arrange the proper music. We would recommend Matt for any venue even though we were not able to use him. We definitely would hire him in the future.
Matthew and his beautiful associate created a magical environment, fraught with anticipation and underlying tones of joy, and all under the canopy of an ancient redwood forest in Central California. Their hauntingly beautiful sounds filled our ears and hearts with just the right tenor and announced to all present, just how amazing this moment was going to be! I would work with Matthew in a heartbeat and I hope I get the opportunity to do so yet again!

Matt played Guitar for our ceremony and cocktail hour and was fabulous. He worked with us and was very understanding in the crazy lead up to the wedding to make sure we were happy with the song selection and made some great recommendations. He was responsive and helpful. For the ceremony, he arrived in plenty of time and introduced himself to me the groom, we sadly didn’t get much of a chance to continue to listen to Matt play during the cocktail hour but our guests really enjoyed his music. I highly recommend Matt.
Matthew Bacon was hired on at Elliston Vineyards to play acoustic guitar for a wedding ceremony and throughout cocktail hour. Matthew was very prompt and easy to work with. After chatting for a few minutes I found out that this was his first time playing at Elliston! However you never would have known since he found his way around seamlessly. He was very friendly and played beautiful music. I would highly recommend him to any couple looking for a musician with that perfect combination of pizazz and professionalism.
Matt performed at our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. He sounded great and was so nice to work with. He was professional, helpful with music selection and was very responsive to questions. We would highly recommend Matt to anyone!
I worked with Matt Bacon at a recent wedding in Sonoma and he did an amazing job! He was flexible and easy to work with in the planning process and executed flawlessly on the wedding day. The couple couldn't be happier! I would highly recommend his services.
My wife and I hired Matt to play classical guitar at our wedding, and it was a genuine pleasure working with him. From the first meeting we could tell he was not only professional, but very passionate and enthusiastic about guitar and music as well. He was also very approachable and humble compared to other guitarists who were pushy or seemed high on themselves, which was really a breath of fresh air.
Matt's repertoire spans much more than classical guitar, including Latin guitar, rock, blues, folk; you name it. Being an amateur guitarist myself, we hit it off right away as he helped to put together a diverse musical selection for each segment of our wedding. He was very willing to entertain any ideas we had, and to arrange it on classical guitar. It was also good to hear his honest suggestions based on his past experiences at weddings and other events. I asked him to throw in some Led Zeppelin and even a few oldies in the mix.
On the day-of, he arrived early to scope out the venue, set up, and then proceeded to wow our guests. He even had a group of guests singing along during one of his guitar renditions. Throughout the evening, it was clear that he was also having a great time, which made it all the more satisfying to listen to his amazing guitar. We were absolutely thrilled to hire Matt, and can't recommend him enough!
We had an excellent experience with Matt and would recommend him without reservation. He was personable, communicative and efficient through the entire process, and great to work with. He came early and was gracious and flexible with our situation (we were in a state of controlled chaos at our charity fundraiser!). Our guests were very impressed -- but who wouldn't be - he is an amazing talent!
We recently held a retirement party for one of our firm's partners at the Hotel Valencia in Santana Row and wanted a musician to fit the look and feel of the space. After working with Matt at a previous event with a colleague I didn't hesitate to reach out to him again as I knew his Spanish guitar style would fit the feel we were going for. Matt is a pleasure to work with- responsive, pleasant, and not pushy like some of the other performers I got quotes from. He was willing to travel down to San Jose and was sure to be in touch via cell phone as he neared the venue to give us an ETA. We look forward to future oppurtunities to book him for our corporate events!
I had the pleasure of hiring Matthew last month to perform at my partners 60th birthday party. His playing was perfect for the intimate setting of my small house, his demeanor and presence respectful of my guests and his music delightful across the classical and jazz genres. I look forward to following his career as a classical guitarist and highly recommend him for your event.
Matt recently performed at a Fundraiser for NorSled. He did a terrific job. His music really helped with the ambiance of the event. Matt is very talented and everyone
really enjoyed listening to him play. I highly recommend him and we hope to have him back again in the future.
Matt was wonderful to work with from start to finish. He was easy to communicate with and took the time to understand our event and guests. At a time when we were stressing out over a lot of details for our event (a charity benefit), working with Matt was a breath of fresh air. He is so amazingly talented and has such a gracious and professional presence, we felt really privileged to have the opportunity to share his talent with our guests! Would recommend Matt without reservation and look forward to having him play at our future events, if he is available - he is on his way to certain renown.
I work as a meeting planner and I hired Matt to play as background music at a corporate reception. His work was exactly what I had requested: beautiful, professional, well presented and very elegant. He played a mix of traditional and contemporay music and was extremely well received by my guests. On the business side, Matt made my job easy by being extremely responsive to inquiries and making the booking process effortless. I would recommend Matt to anyone needed a professional guitarist and would hire him again.
I have heard Matt perform several times, and have thoroughly enjoyed every performance. His selection of music is great, with pieces that I know and love, as well as new ones I’d never heard before but immediately want to hear again. He plays with wonderful tone and feeling, and his clear enjoyment of whatever he is playing makes you feel that every performance is special. Add in his poise and good cheer, and he really stands out as an all-around class act.
I selected Matt from 4 candidates for my wife's birthday celebration by listening to his work.
Unfortunately, the plans changed and I had to cancel. Matt responded promptly both to the initial contact and to the cancellation.
Wish we'd had a chance to hear him live, but he was strictly professional in all the dealings.
Highly recommended; no reason for less than 5 stars in all catagories.
Extremely satisfied. Matt looks and plays like an allstar professional. Music was enchanting and played with grace and passion. He was an icon at our wedding last night. Matt studied and played our favorite song in which I provided him with the notes. Need not more be said! The music Matt played was the theme and mood of our entire evening.
Thank you.
We recently hired Matt to play at our wedding in Shakespeare's Garden of Golden Gate Park and he was absolutely wonderful!! From the very first email, Matt was professional, friendly, and easy going. He was very prompt in returning any emails or phone calls and followed through on what he said he was going to do. In the weeks and days leading up to my wedding, Matt would email me and ask me if everything was going ok or if I had any questions. We gave him total freedom with music choices except for the processional and the exit song and he played everything perfectly. He told us that he really like Shakespeare's garden and it showed in the tone he set with his music. I asked our guests what they thought of Matt and everyone said they loved him!! One guest said he's never felt so relaxed in San Francisco before!!! Matt showed up before his schedule time and play the entire hour I asked until most of the guests were gone. I couldn't of asked for better service from Matt and I would absolutely hire him again. If you don't want to stress about the music for your wedding ceremony, then hire Matt, you won't regret it!
Matt played for my outdoor wedding ceremony in October, providing both background music for a cocktail reception and also solo music during the ceremony. As a professional musician myself, I was extremely satisfied with his overall performance and willingness to help me pick exactly the kind of music I wanted. Based on the rather general descriptions of what I asked of him, he managed to pick exactly the right types of pieces to make the event just how I wanted it. He's a very expressive player, flexible to accommodate requests, and very nice to work with. I would definitely hire him again in the future.
Matthew recently graced us with his exceptional talent at a recent corporate event at the Lafayette Park Hotel. His music selection and performance was both soothing and inspiring. As a guitarist, I was HIGHLY impressed with his skill and ability. The classical pieces he chose to perform were done with grace and deftness. Matthew was engaging with the audience, and even took time to explain his approach and interpretation of the chosen compositions to an aspiring classical guitarist as myself. I HIGHLY recommend Matthew for any event, corporate or private.
Matt was professional and great to work with! I highly recommend him.
Matthew Bacon deserves a five star rating for his exemplary classical guitar performance during our event. For starters, he was highly response to emails, kept us connected about his fees, arrivals times (he always arrives well in advance of your event) and asked about his audience so he could adequately prepare. Once he began to play, our group was captivated by his musical talent, his charm and his connectivity with the audience. His skill and passion for spanish/classical guitar music was amazingly entertaining and took our event to a new level. His sound is lilting, dynamic, soft yet powerful. Many could not keep our ears (and eyes) off this very talented young musician. He will make your event world class-
Matt Bacon is one of the most exciting young artists making a name for himself on the 21st century concert stage. His impressive repertoire spans centuries and includes music from the renaissance to works being written by the latest generation of composers. The music he played during his solo recital was just superb!
Matt Bacon was the perfect fit for my sisters wedding. He was able to work with me really last minute, and provided the wedding with beautiful and well chosen tunes (he even picked all the songs for me since I didn't have much time to plan them!). He is extremely kind and easy to work with, and all the guests loved him! Thank you so much Matt, I hope to work with you again in the future!
Matt Bacon was a wonderful asset to our backyard Annual Family Picnic.
He was professional, accomplished, and charming. He chose the perfect blend of music for a family event, and everyone felt transported to a country villa in Spain. As a theater producer, Matt's professional presence and classical training were first-rate, and added an element of class to our annual event. I would highly recommend him for any event.
We worked with Matt on a simple wedding ceremony at San Francisco City Hall. He arrived 40 minutes ahead of the ceremony, introduced himself and even helped me carry some of our equipment in! Followed my direction well and was super friendly to boot. I highly recommend!
What a performance. We so enjoyed Matt he was so knowledgeable. You can just see that he has such passion for his music.
I had the pleasure of seeing Matt Bacon perform in a concert at Millersville University's Ware Center in Lancaster, PA. There were several other guitarists featured at this large charity event, but I was most impressed with Mr. Bacon's performance. He played with such passion and expression that one could actually "feel" the music. His performance was truly mesmerizing, and ended with a standing ovation! I recommend Matt Bacon for any engagement that requires a 5 star guitarist!
I had the delight of attending one of Matt's performances at Salle Pianos in the SF Bay earlier in January. Matt was both a highly captivating performer who brought an unparalleled level of musicianship and versatility to his repertoire; and a charismatic and gracious individual who remained to shake every hand and answer every question that came his way after the performance. Whether he's playing for an intimate gathering, corporate event, or wedding, Matt is sure to impress with his undeniable talent, class, and charm!
I saw Matthew Bacon play at a private party during the holidays. His performance was truly outstanding. He really draws you in to the emotion of the music. While his specialty seemed to be Latin influenced music, he also entertained with Beatles and other standards. He was a wonderful entertainer and very professional. I would certainly recommend seeing him perform if the opportunity presents itself.
