Matthew has a diverse background in the world of percussion, ranging from Jazz to Avant Garde music to Popular music to Orchestral percussion, and more. He is currently working on a Masters Degree in Percussion Performance at Middle Tennessee State University studying under Lalo Davila and Julie Davila, amongst other well-known musicians and directors. Prior to studying at Middle Tennessee State University, Matthew received his Undergraduate Degree at Western Connecticut State University studying under David Smith and Patrick Smith.

Matthew Curley has extensive experience with Chamber Percussion groups across the country. As a member of the Western Connecticut based percussion duo “Premium Bright”, Matt performed at such venues as;
The Connecticut Percussive Arts Society Chapter Day
The Connecticut Music Educators Association Conference
Two Recitals at Charles Ives Hall in Danbury, CT
In addition, Matthew Curley and ‘Premium Bright’ were also the winners of the James Furman Memorial Scholarship competition in 2012. Matthew was also a featured soloist with the WCSU percussion ensemble and symphonic band. In 2013, Matt was a member of the MTSU chamber percussion ensemble that competed in the PASIC Small Ensemble competition in Indianapolis.

In addition to his impressive percussion performances, Matthew also plays electric and double bass, amongst other instruments, and has experience in jazz combos, big bands, popular music, and musical theatre settings.
Since a young age, Matthew Curley has always had a passion for music. As a recent graduate of Western Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education K-12, and a current graduate student at Middle Tennessee State University pursuing a Master of Arts in Percussion Performance, Matthew Curley has a bright future ahead of him as a talented musician and music educator. During this time, he has performed in a multitude of musical pieces in various venues across the country.
