We had Matt play at our house party in Naples a part of Long Beach. Our group was over 50 in age and it was a group of about 45 guests. So many of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed his music. Matt is perfect for any event, great for a wedding or corporate event. He is very versatile in his choice of music. Matt is easy to coordinate with regarding event details.
I was thrilled he was a part of our first party in a new neighborhood. We are looking to book him again for our groups holiday party at the Long Beach Yacht Club.

Well let us tell you that Matt far exceeded our expectations.

I can’t say enough good things about Matt! He is remarkable! Communication was extremely good! He is very down to earth, and just a genuine good guy! Every single person at the wedding asked “omg! Where did you find this guy? He is so great!” I messed up and told him the wrong date early on, and realized maybe a month later. I was so upset with myself, as i just knew with how good he is that I probably lost out on the opportunity to have him come to the wedding but he switched the date no questions asked! He doesn’t know this but i instantly started crying because I was so happy to still have him on board and I will be forever grateful for him. He performed our ceremony song live and it was even better than i could have imagined!!!! I quickly gave him my idea and he ran with it! He came and helped us celebrate my 50th birthday. He is a very talented guitarist and singer and transitions into an awesome DJ when you’re ready to turn it up a notch! It was one thing to see him thru YouTube and produced videos that are out there, it was another scenario to have a small intimate wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, then an intimate dinner and have him crush each setting. We have hired Matt on a couple of occasions. Once for a corporate large group evening event and an intimate evening event. Matt handled both events with professionalism. He's an extremely talented musician and has a huge playlist. He knew just what to play without prompting. Thank you Matt!

Matt performed at my corporate event in Palm Desert this past week.
It was an outdoor, evening dinner reception. He arrived early to meet with me and set up. He was super friendly, polite and professional. Asked some questions about the group and any preferences we had regarding music, timing, etc. Matt will accommodate anything.
He began playing on time and was excellent. A terrific guitarist and singer. He can serve as background music during dinner and then transition to a focal point entertainer. He’ll talk to the audience, walk into the audience, play any requests, etc.
Our group of over one hundred people loved him. In fact, we had a few folks wanting to hire him to continue playing late into the evening at the resort’s bar.

Matt was extremely professional throughout the process from the day that we initially reached out to him about performing at our wedding to following up after the wedding thanking us for the opportunity. He performed for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour at the Bacara Resort, and his cool vibe and beautiful voice totally fit in at this classy and relaxed venue. Our best man, who played bass professionally for many years, initially thought that he was a record during the ceremony (his voice sounds THAT GOOD)! Another guest jokingly commented, "How did you get John Mayer to agree to perform at your wedding?" In short, Matt Shockley was amazing, and we cannot recommend him more highly!

Where do I begin, Matt Shockley is one amazing dude! Because of him, the wife and I had an extraordinary wedding (04/09/2016) and our family and friends absolutely loved him. Matt was extremely professional, super friendly, and he kept in constant contact with me throughout the entire planning and execution of our wedding.

I impressed my wife and her parents, whom were a little iffy about my idea of having a singer at our wedding but when they saw Matt performing our favorite songs and classics singlehandedly at the wedding they could not believe they’re eyes and ears. And neither could I!!

Matt learned songs we requested for our wedding ceremony and reception which was incredible. This guy has insane skills and his voice is so clear that you can make out every word he is singing. As Matt sang he would approach our reception table at times which was awesome, it made it a little more personal and we felt like VIP’s.

He will adapt to your plans and work with you while offering advice on things he has seen work best from his experience at past events and be not pushy at all whatsoever.

This review is long overdue. Matt played at our wedding back on May 1, 2015, and at first, it was hard originally getting my fiance on board, but after he met Matt and heard him play the day of, he gave me the "Oh yeah, he's good," approval. :) I even think Matt may have showed me up but I don't care. I loved every minute I got to see/hear him play, and no doubt the guests did too because all I kept getting asked was, "Where did you find him!?!"

Honestly though, I can't say enough good things about Matt. I probably sang throughout the reception and weirdly was bummed I missed his set while waiting in the back for the ceremony to start. What bride is envious of the part where guests arrive and get seated!? ;) All in all, he hit on all the key songs in the list we provided, and was so kind and warm with the guests and us. Don't even doubt for a second if you're looking for someone to perform live at your wedding/event. Matt's just great from initial engagement to the event and even in checking in afterwards too!

One of the three things I had to have at my wedding was live music. I wanted a three piece band that played as I walked down the aisle and through the reception. Matt delivered that and more! What can I say about Matt Shockley?! He will MAKE your wedding. My now husband and I are HUGE live music fans and I had researched online way in advance for a great live performer for our special day. Luckily, after seeing Matt's Youtube videos and reading all his awesome reviews, I booked him before anyone else got to him for our wedding day. I had a few specific requests, like having Matt play during the ceremony while my cousin sang, for him to start playing right after the kiss into the processional, specific first dance request that he learned perfectly, etc. and he was flexible and executed everything smoothly and professionally. I am so happy I did a first look and got all the pictures out of the way beforehand, so I could enjoy Matt's awesome performance during our cocktail hour. I didn't even have any requests for him and he kept the energy going with one great song choice after the next. As for the reception, Matt had our guests up and dancing before dinner was even served! He created the most intimate, romantic environment I could ever dream of. He looked the part, he made the Bride feel as special as could be and he interacted with our guests during his performances to keep the energy up. He brought along a DJ with him (at my request, since I wanted party music for dancing later in the night) but I wish Matt was playing the whole night. People who attended the wedding can't stop talking about our amazing musician and I am trying to think of what event I can plan next where I can have Matt perform again. :) Matt turned our wedding into our DREAM wedding.

All of our guests are still talking about how excellent Mat Shockley was at our wedding, and some of the guests are in the music business. Our wedding was the best day of our lives. Mat put it way over the top. Little girls were hypnotized by him, little boys danced. I had all ages and the 80 plus group loved him as well. He was fantastic for all age groups. My caterers came up and said where did you find him? I'm getting married soon and we have to have him at our wedding ( I imagine caterer's hear a lot of preformers) I had a top caterer with the highest reviews, but Mat Shockley was the best and he made our wedding day beyond special. Matt performed superbly for our wedding reception. I was initially apprehensive at first because I was on a tight budget. However, after dealing with the lack of professionalism and reassurances from other guitarists, Matt agreed to meet up with me for coffee and I was sold. He is very professional and adaptive to your needs.

Performance-wise, I got a lot of compliments about how great he sounded. He was able to create a "classy" atmosphere without that uptight feeling with just his voice. I asked Matt to learn a song for our "first dance" and I was amazed at how well it sounded. I wish I had it recorded because it sounded better than the original. Matt was also able to work seamlessly with my DJ and my MC.

If you are apprehensive about paying a little more for Matt, don't be. Spare yourself the stress and headaches with trying to sort through various guitarists. He is worth every penny. I honestly can't think of a negative comment in any of my dealings with Matt.

I contacted Matt to play at our outdoor wedding ceremony and indoor reception and he was absolutely a consummate professional through the entire process, from first contact to final song, Matt stayed in constant contact, helped work through the song list, event logistics and made sure the bride was the focus of the day throughout. Just want to add to our previous review. Matt was easy to reach during the planning stages of our party, and returned every email and phone call. He was co-operative, patient, and he offered up great suggestions, and was receptive and open to our ideas about what we wanted for our event. He was flexible and extremely motivated to make sure that we were happy about the entertainment arrangements, and really cared about honoring our wishes! He was an absolute delight to work with, and we felt like he was party of the family by the time the party ended! Everyone loved his music, and his unique bright spirit and style shined through a wide range of his musical repertoire , of famous and familiar songs, as well as some of his own original songs that were absolutely stunning to hear, even for the first time!

Words cannot express how great Matt and his band were at our wedding! Numerous family members have said that our wedding was the best they've ever been to, and a lot of the credit must go to Mr. Shockley! I have countless family members who never dance, occupy the dance floor all night. Matt played his guitar and sang during our ceremony and cocktail hour. He and his band rocked our ceremony, playing a great mix of popular music from today and the past. After discovering Matt at the Pint House in Fullerton, we knew that we had to have him play at our house....a "bucket list" item. He not only rocked New Year's Eve at our house, but entertained us again at our daughters college graduation party. He's a talented artist and a great person too!

On the night of our engagement my husband and I knew we had to have Matt Shockley play at our wedding. After seeing him while on vacation in Newport Beach we knew he would fit the light, fun and casual feel of our wedding. His music and presence makes it impossible not to have a good time. Matt played during our ceremony, cocktail hour and throughout dinner and my guests were raving to me about him all night. He interacted with our guests and they loved how kind and sincere he was when he chatted with them. Matt was so personable and fun without losing the element of professionalism and really was the best decision I made on my wedding day. (Besides marrying my best friend of course) If I am ever in the position to hire or recommend a live musician again it will be Matt Shockley every time.

We hired Matt to play for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour and could not have been more thrilled with our decision to do so! It took hearing Matt play one song to decide he was the musician for our special day! He is that talented! We hired Matt to perform at our joint 50th birthday party. Not only is he easy to work with, he is extremely talented & a downright nice guy. First, he was quick to respond to my request for info & follow up emails. Then he showed up as expected an hour early to set up. Once he started playing, we loved him. ALL of my guests commented on how great he was. He has an amazing voice, and is extremely talented on the guitar & also the harmonica. He knew what songs to play and when and just got the 'vibe' of the party. We were all dancing on the lawn. Just a very memorable evening and a huge part is thanks to Matt. I will definitely hire him again. Can't wait!
