What to Expect
My performances are tailored to the client. I have an extensive setlist that I can tweak upon my client's request. The goal is for my client to get exactly what they need for the event. This includes me watching the crowd closely to match their mood, quiet songs for quiet moments and loud songs for loud moments. Similarly, I will help guide the energy of the night with some keys songs that everyone can sing along too. This also will be reflected in the equipment that I bring.
My setup is a very small foot print; I bring my own equipment which includes: PA speaker, microphone, mic stand, guitar, guitar stand, cables, extension chords, etc. If needed, I can bring more equipment for larger venues.
About
Hi, my name is Maxwell Burgess, and I am a singer/songwriter, guitarist, and producer. When I was around 8, my neighborhood friends were fans of Naruto. We would go online and look for Naruto episodes; one day, we came across a YouTube music video of Naruto set to Linkin Park's "In The End." We really liked the song and then discovered LP's catalog. Naturally, we decided to form our own band so that we could meet Linkin Park; for some reason, our songs about 8-year-old angst never made it out of the neighborhood...The band didn't last, but I kept playing guitar and writing songs and began "producing" my songs with a cheap loop pedal. I played music in the church growing up and throughout college. After college, I became a worship leader and started playing open mics around Houston. I met some incredibly talented musicians, and we formed a band called The Working Hours. Through that band I have had the pleasure of meeting other excellent musicians through gigs, touring, and collaborating. I still continue to play gigs around Houston and work on my own material. When I'm not working on music, you can find me spending time with friends and family, going to the movies, and supporting other local artist's gigs in Houston.
Additional Booking Notes
I am willing to work with any sound system that the client or venue provides. Additionally, I can bring my own PA speaker. My sound setup is quiet enough for house parties and dim lit wineries and can be loud enough for outdoor plazas for 200+ people.
