The Medicinal Jazz Band creates the perfect ambiance for dinner parties, corporate events, and weddings through its colorful interpretations of the greatest Jazz hits of the 1930s-60s, as well as modern originals. Led by pianist Noah Strom, the band is known for its extensive repertoire, elegant performances, and vibrant improvisations. Normally performing as a quartet (piano, upright bass, drums, and guitar), we can add additional musicians (e.g. trumpet, female vocalist) or perform as a trio, duet, or solo (piano) if desired. We offer the perfect music to "class up" your event. We arrive well-dressed and well-rehearsed. We play a style of jazz that is easy to listen to -- dinner guests will likely start humming familiar tunes to themselves during a set. We try to create an elegant atmosphere with musical selections ranging from compositions by Fats Waller (traditional jazz) to Luiz Bonfa (Latin jazz), and some fun originals, too!
The Medicinal Jazz Band is made up of a core of four musicians that have played with each other for over two decades. We have toured the U.S. and the U.K. and played a variety of styles of music. We got more interested in jazz around 2010 and have been playing it ever since! We've met people along the way and can add a trumpet or female vocalist by request.
We prefer a real piano (upright or grand) but own a keyboard that can be used in lieu of a piano.
