I am "the" speaker for your next event if you are looking for a professionally trained speaker who has the ability to make your audience relaxed and motivated for the days ahead. I work hard on my craft so you have one less thing to worry about on the day of your next event. I will arrive early and stay after as requested or needed for meet and greet opportunities and to give you the assurance your speaker is there, confident, prepared and ready to go.
Melanie was born and raised in the small auto manufacturing town of Swartz Creek Michigan. She enlisted in the Army at 18 and traveled the world serving her country in Somalia, Guantanamo Bay Cuba, Korea and here at home in California and Kentucky. Melanie continued her travels after serving in the Army and worked as a Government Contractor in Italy.
Upon her return to the United States in 2009, she was discovered by Dr. Bill Mitchell in El Paso while volunteering with the Chapin Marching Band. He offered her a position with the local Dale Carnegie Group where she started as an office assistant, however, her fearless approach to life and her ability to connect with people she quickly transitioned from the office to one of El Paso’s most sought after up and coming speakers.
She is currently the Entertainment and Fundraising Chair on the Board of Directors for the El Paso Hotel Motel Association and was recently appointed to the board of directors for KCOS/PBS station.
She has shared the stage with Jack Canfield, co-author of "Chicken Soup For the Soul" and with Forbes Riley of QVC/Home Shopping Network just to name a few.
Melanie has won several awards for speaking as well as her most recent award as the "Top Entrepreneur Selection" for the "Spirit Business Angel" 2014 award. She was also named the 2013 Human Resource Professional of the Year for the El Paso Human Resource Society. Here is a list of my most requested workshops, however, my talent is not limited to these:
Programs with Purpose:
Melanie can conduct One to Three day business seminars that include and expand on her one hour session topics. One hour to 90 minutes delivery time topics include:
Attitudes that foster Team Work and Leadership:
Melanie provides solution based processes that combine powerful examples and valuable group activities to move teams toward the attitudes that make good teams great. This begins with the concept of taking 100% responsibility for you. Each time a participant comes to a team environment their attitude is visible and their responsibility. We will directly look at the attitude of gratitude and the attitude of giving and how they affect leaders and team members.
Learning Outcomes:
Assess attitude and set goals for improvement.
Incorporate the power of gratitude and giving.
Apply control principles to manage attitude.
Incorporate language that keeps team interactions positive.
Daily Discipline that Create Great Leaders and Great Teams:
This dynamic action-oriented segment addresses the daily disciplines that great leaders apply to create great teams. This starts with managing the activities within the time allotted for each work day. Compelling stories of how constant improvements with continual learning are the fuel that drives the greatness engine. Explore the value of going the extra mile, what that means and how it affects the teams function. Focus on the overlooked cause for the lack of productivity.
Fear of Responsibility, if I do it once “They” will expect me to do it forever. Learning Outcomes:
Apply tools to leverage time and increase productivity. Understand the impact of continued learning.
Analyze situations and go the extra mile more often.
Take great responsibility without fear.
5 Greatest Influences that develop Great Teams & Great Leaders Examine Jim Rohn’s quote “You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with”. Bringing awareness to how those you spend time with affect your attitude and ability to perform as a leader and team member will create major shifts in overall feelings of satisfaction within work and life. Discussion on how what we watch on TV and listen to on the radio influences our general attitudes about our performance as well. An expanded focus on the benefits of listening vs the desire to talk will be explored; new communication tools will be introduced through engaging group activities and lecture. Learning Outcomes:
Recognize who has a role of influence over you.
Develop greater awareness of what affects your attitude.
Align individual goals with team goals.
Apply listening skills over desire to talk.
Set Goals with Creditable Accountability for Team Success. It has been said that only realistic goals can be reached. With powerful group activities that allow groups to explore what realistic truly means we will establish a clearer vision. While the most over looked aspect of goal success is having the right attitude, finding those who have already achieved your desired outcome and giving up all excuses is invaluable. Melanie will assist to identify those key stake holders to help hold your team accountable.
Learning Outcome:
Have a clear vision with specific goals.
Identify one or more creditable accountability partners.
Eliminate excuses.
Implement plans with clearly defined goals.
Creative Vs Competitive: Where are you as a Team Member? Explore how creative and competitive nature occurs in teams. Through dynamic group activities understand how to identify healthy competition vs destructive competition. Interactive activities that show the tendency to take credit when something good happens then blame others when something negative happens. Address how jealousy and envy keep teams from thriving.
Learning Outcomes:
Commitment to expressing a creative nature.
Adapt competitive nature to creative nature.
Apply methods to reduce destructive competitive nature. Eliminate the effects of jealousy and envy.
