I am an international performing singer songwriter. I play both covers and originals all over the wold. I am a multi-instrumentalist and have an endorsement which certifies me to teach K-12 music. I play private parties, special events, festivals, clubs, and other occasions. I teach lessons, and do contract writing gigs.
I love playing new places and meeting new people!
We were lucky enough to have Melissa play for us several times at our BBQ Bar & Restaurant.
Her range of music and talent is undoubted. She is an incredibly talented songwriter, as well as being able to cover a variety of music genres.
She interacts great with her audience and is an absolute pleasure to deal with.
If we still had our place, I would definitely book her again,
Response from Melissa Joiner:
Thank you so much. Miss you guys!!!
Vibrant and various in her style and presentation, across original compositions and classic covers, Melissa Joiner is always a crowd favorite for her ability to energize and warm a room with seemingly effortless ease. Would recommend for venues large or intimate.
We had Melissa play up at the Moonlight on the Mountain in Birmingham a few times. She is wonderfully pleasant to work with on top of being an extremely talented singer / songwriter. With her fantastic songs and amazing voice, she immediately connected with the audience and had the entire room smiling. Above all that, Melissa is just a wonderful, positive person and made our listening room a very warm place.
Response from Melissa Joiner:
Thank you so much! Miss you guys!
Having watched Melissa’s videos, I knew she was talented and I had high expectations when I invited her to be part of a songwriters show. She was all that and more. She arrived directly from another show she had played in earlier...and was ready to play, totally fresh and energetic. I’m not sure if I can adequately explain it, but her voice was much richer and more beautiful in person. Her guitar playing is excellent, and she has a dynamic stage presence. Melissa was very gracious and respectful of the venue and the musicians she shared the stage with. Melissa adds a strong talent boost to any show she is in, and I hope to see her perform again when she is in our area.
Response from Melissa Joiner:
Thank you so much! It was a privilege to play for you!
Great acoustical performances with incredibly smooth and soulful vocals. Wide range of genre for cover tunes but, originals are spot on and truly heartfelt from this unique female artist. Definitely worth a listen or booking.
Response from Melissa Joiner:
Thank you so much! You are one of my favorite people to play for!
I hired Melissa for a private party. She played pop songs for the younger ones and sang songs that us old folks knew and could sing along with. I would recommend her to anyone who wants a top notch entertainer.
Response from Melissa Joiner:
Thank you! I had a blast playing for ya'll!
How did I know that I would love Melissa over friggen Beyoncé? She sang “Crazy in Love” at LuLu’s- I’m like...Dang- I like this better.” Basically- if ya’ll don’t Love Melissa...Ya’ll ain’t right. No apologies.
Response from Melissa Joiner:
Thank you so much!
This young woman is emitting a glow you can't resist. She is warm, positive and honest with a demeanor that's impossible to dislike.
When I first saw Melissa perform, she was able to connect the audience, warm the room up, get us talking and let us leave feeling blessed.
This girl's got it. We need more musicians with true heart and soul.
Melissa is all heart and soul; outstanding performer, beautiful spirit, professional and responsible.
Melissa played a few times on my Nic and Friends. She is an incredible entertainer, singer, songwriter, and top notch music professional. Perfect for our area venues and weddings. In addition, her sets are very versitile and for all genres.
Melissa is fun, entertaining, and easy to work with!
I've seen her at more than one venue. She never ceases to amaze me with her range. Since she has been traveling the world, it seems that she has even become more interesting to listen to (if that is possible), Her voice just has an amazing low and high range so no matter what Melissa sings her voice finds the right places to go. I really like her songwriting style and delivery, Always fresh and entertaining ...
Its so refreshing to hear a musician who does just play all the cover standards out there. Melissa brings her own interpretation on wildly different songs, from Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" to T-Bone walker's "Stormy Monday". Additionally she is a very accomplished songwriter from a family of musicians. If you go see her, ask her to play some of her own stuff. I especially like the song "Bridges". If you insist (I do) she will bring out her Ukulele!
Melissa entertained our guest in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. She was so good that we booked her for 4 more gigs in March.

I can mold to fit many different needs. I do everything from oldies, to songs on the radio now. I have a very unique sound, and can promise that you won't hear anyone who sounds like me.
Native of Baldwin County, Alabama, Melissa Joiner has been submersed in music since birth. Her diverse style and creative use of formal opera training and Delta blues influence has created a unique sound that makes her a standout among other gulf coast female vocalists. In her first summer of being a professional musician, she hosted the Gulf Coast Songwriter Shootout in the world famous Florabama, and participated in many festivals which include the Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival, Mississippi Songwriters Festival, Pensacola Beach Songwriters Festival, and the 43rd International Shrimp Festival just to name a few. She is the co-founder and co-producer of the Gulf Coast Songwriter Shootout, and founder and executive
producer of the Songs that Save concert series. In 2016, she took on the role of music coordinator for P&O cruise lines. Melissa has been featured on 92ZEW FM live concert series, and has opened up for several national touring acts. Melissa has recently performed on PBS's Studio Amped with her band, and is currently working on her first debut album. Recently Melissa spent three months playing in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and other countries in the Pacific Islands and looks forward to playing in an area near you! Melissa has joined forces with local singer-songwriter Kristen Long to form a band called The Hypsy Sisters. Fresh off their first successful tour the power duo is working on their first album. I require that the venue or event have a grounded plug to ensure the protection of myself, and my equipment. I have all my own gear, but welcome places that already have sound equipment.
When I'm not playing originals I put my own spin on these, and the list is always changing/growing..
**When I do full band shows the music changes accordingly.
*** I can create a custom set list based on requests by the bookers, if needed.
However, additional fees may apply for custom set lists, and are determined on a case-by-case basis.
60 day minimum advance booking is required for custom set lists.
