Melvin Washington grew up in a small town that is known for it’s knack to sell furniture; High Point, NC. After the rush of the furniture market, the city seems to be left desolate. But not really, there is much life, many dreams and great visions of the people that live there. Melvin does not allow the small town mentality to dictate his zeal for life. He grasps each moment of greatness, every situation of defeat and all discoveries of himself and transforms experiences into love songs.
As the furniture industry has the ability to captivate buyers and entice their minds through precise constructed pieces, Melvin’s songwriting enthralls audiences and tempts them to intensely look inward to self assess -who they really are and what they desire in life through thoughtfully composed lyrics. His love and affection for life spills over into his words through songs.
While Melvin Washington’s first love is songwriting, he is also a seasoned vocalist. He has performed many musical/vocal styles including contemporary, soft rock, easy listening and gospel. As an accomplished pianist Melvin’s innate passion to love comes across with each stroke of the keyboard. He has created many original arrangements of love songs throughout the years that he has kept close to his heart and will now share with the world.
Melvin Washington’s music inspires us to use the gifts God has given us, to touch hearts and save lives. As a musician Melvin is using his God-given talents to challenge us to seek who we love and love like no other.
David Foster, Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones and Fred Hammond are a few of my major influences.
