MercyU is a Nigerian-American Artist based in Los Angeles California. Mercy started singing at the very young age of eight in her home church choir. She has received several recognitions at school talent shows and community talent events. Her voice is often described as smooth, melodic and unique. Mercy has always been aware of her talent as a vocalist but didn't discover her songwriting capabilities until she wrote her first song titled "Barbie N Ken" released early 2014. The song and video buzzed on YouTube and musical sites such as Soundcloud and Reverb. She also gained many fans from the country of Nigeria. Mercy has performed in popular venues such as The Viper Room, The Vision Theater, and The House of Blues Hollywood and live T.V events such as Punch T. V’s new years eve bash. Mercy took a break from the music scene to finish up schooling at CSUDH and now she is back and excited to put all she has on the table.
She is currently working on her debut EP entitled "Vibes Don’t Lie" (V.D.L) a combination of songs that truly embody who Mercy is an artist, writer, and entertainer. Mercy is truly an all-around artist. She not only writes and composes all of her music, but also choreographs for her live performances and music videos. Her mission is to inspire others through example and through her music, which consists of feel good tunes and positive, motivational, and inspirational messages. The highly anticipated EP "Vibes Don’t Lie" is set to be released ---------. Mercy U says, "I've taken so long to release a body of work because I am somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to my art. I like to make sure everything is on point and perfect before I release and its almost to a fault. I now realize that being an artist is not about being perfect or like the most popular artist out there. It’s about being yourself, being vulnerable, and sharing your gift and message. I realize my gift is not just for me”
MercyU is not your typical singer within one genre and sound in every song. She simply makes songs that she is inspired to do which ranges from Gospel, R&B, Pop, EDM, and Afro-Beat. Mercy's style and fashion sense can be described as a blend of Chic-Glam and Neo-Africana which is shaped from her culture and her surroundings.
