Michael Murphy and the MOB is a band consisting of 3 to 5 well-seasoned, mature, professional blues musicians. Our show is an aggressive interpretation of the blues that is fueled by passion and guided by heartfelt emotions. While the band stays true to the feeling of the blues, Michael takes a different approach by delivering a mix of traditional with a twist for the unexpected. The music is aggressive, and always gets bodies on the dance floor.

Michael ”Big Dog” Murphy plays the blues - hard! His amazing haunting and soulful voice is gravel-like and growly due to his life and the way he lived it. In his guitar playing you hear the same fervent fire that is present in his vocals. You hear his own style, original, heartfelt, aggressive and gripping. Even when Michael plays his acoustic, folks keep waiting for the strings on his guitar to fly off in pieces.
His unique band of accomplished musicians - Carl Betz (bass), and Harley Pryne (drums) - succeed in making Michael think they’re only there to make him look good. But in actuality, as Michael carves the path, their amazing individual talents make sure he gets to where he wants to go, creatively and with ease.
Michael gets fans totally immersed in his blues as he takes them for a ride through his own personal experiences, in which they often find bits of their own stories being told. He is not content to stand still in time, to be stagnant in a pond of one style, and he relentlessly tries to extend his own sound. He continually stretches his creativity and enjoys riding close to the edge, occasionally stepping into the crevice of the unknown, always finding his way following the map laid down by his band.
A truly riveting performance by one of the best blues bands around!
