I am a classically trained jazz pianist with over twenty five years of professional experience performing at clubs, festivals, restaurants, colleges, private parties, churches and weddings.
Some of the S.F. Bay area venues I have performed at are: Yoshi's, Cafe Du Nord, The Freight and Salvage, Enrico's, The Lone Palm, The Coconut Grove, Restaurant 11, and Servino's.
I have also played for numerous events at the Corinthian, St. Francis, Tiburon, South Beach, and San Francisco Yacht Clubs as well as at the Valhalla Resort in Lake Tahoe for their jazz festival.
In addition, I have worked as a staff accompanist at S.F. City College for eight years.
Michael blended wonderful music for my gathering of 30 parents for a morning coffee. Fabulous touch of having Michael play a variety of melodies during our house gathering. We look forward to him coming back. Thank you Michael for adding that perfect touch during the holidays.
Michael was punctual and worked for 4 hours with few breaks . His piano skills were great .
Michael did an excellent job! He was early to the event, played some festive Holiday music, and added his own personal touch to many of the songs. We highly recommend his services.
Would hire him again!
He did an excellent job and brought all of his equipment .. He is very easy to work with...
Very easy to work with and helpful!
Michael was terrific! Excellent piano player. Very professional and courteous. Arrived early to start playing exactly on time. His presence added that extra special touch to our party!
Michael was a great addition to a wedding celebration. He arrived early, was responsive, and played beautifully. Would hire him for future events.
Wedding guests absolutely loved the soft jazz, and said "his music made the wedding". Highly reccomend.
Michael performed during my cocktail hour at my wedding. While I wasn’t able to meet or hear Michael’s music in person because I was off taking photos, but my guests were impressed with his music. My wedding took place in a garden, so the jazz music he played added to the peacefulness of the venue. Michael was also very responsive to all my questions and was willing to take special music requests.
Thanks you Michael!
Michael was prompt, pleasant, professional and amazing. Obviously, he loves what he does...I would hire him again, absolutely.
Michael is a great piano player! I was lucky to book him for my wedding's cocktail hour, and he most certainly delivered. Michael kept in contact with me before the event to iron out some details. (We were looking for some jazz classics and show tunes to match our art deco meets old Hollywood feel) He was also the first to congratulate my wife and I after our wedding ceremony, as he was already waiting at the piano to start the cocktail hour. Michael is very professional and quite impressive on the keys! I highly recommend him for any event requiring his kind of talent! A+++++ :-)
Michael Granat entertained for my husband's birthday party. Not only was he punctual, professional, and talented, but he was able to adapt to the flow of the evening, starting with background jazz, taking requests, and even accompanying us for a Holiday sing-a-long. He even stayed to play longer, since everyone was enjoying the music so much. I couldn't have been happier!
Price Range: $100 and up.
I am a San Francisco Bay Area native.
I began playing piano at the age of seven and have attended the Indiana University School of Music, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and San Francisco State University where I completed my Bachelors Degree in music.
I have been performing at clubs and for private functions throughout the Bay Area for the last 25 years. At these venues I have been primarily playing jazz standards either in a cocktail piano environment or as a stage performer.
I have also worked as a staff accompanist at S.F. City College for eight years where my duties included playing for voice classes as well as accompanying choirs. The repertoire for these classes included opera, show tunes, jazz standards, and pop tunes. I would usually have to sight-read for the classes, so I am very experienced in playing music that is presented to me on the spot.
