Michael O'Dell

Michael played at an event I was managing a few weeks ago. He was eminently prepared and, when I had to change things last minute, was more than agreeable at making it all work and doing more work than was originally planned. He's a gem.

Michael is an excellent pianist. He can play any kind of music and he's especially skilled as a jazz pianist. I have hired him a couple of times. He's a pleasure to work with and a delight to listen to.

I'm not a jazz expert, but I know what I like. And I like what Mike does. He's got this incredible ability to take a classic standard and make it sound like something new and exciting. He's got a knack for improvisation, and he always seems to know exactly what to play next. Mike also has an incredible energy and passion that just leaps off the stage. He is extremely responsive to requests and input from a crowd. I saw him get a request for an unfamiliar song, then he listened to it on someone's phone for 30 seconds and suddenly he was ready to play it live. Such a gifted musician and a great asset to any celebration!

Michael is a fantastic pianist in multiple genres, but in particular jazz and pop. I hired him for an event on March 18, and folks are STILL talking about how fabulous he was. His professionalism, depth of knowledge, improvisational capabilities, and fun spirit are unmatched. We've also caught him at his spot at Uncle Charlie's Piano Lounge where he is the regular Monday night pianist, and he is a master at working with vocalists. A must-hire for your next event!
