Michelle Brooks-Thompson is an International award-winning Indie Recording Artist, who is a former finalist of NBC’s the Voice (Season 3) and is the 2017 winner of the famous legendary Amateur Night at the Apollo (New York), and 2022 winner of Unsung Heroes (Music Room-Cape Cod).

Since competing on The Voice & winning Amateur Night at the Apollo, Michelle’s versatile & phenomenal singing ability has privileged her to grace a multitude of diverse musical platforms across the country. She has become known by all as a dynamic powerhouse vocalist! As quoted by Maroon 5’s front man and NBC’s the Voice vocal coach Adam Levine, “Michelle has been gifted with a supernatural singing ability.” Michelle’s vocal tone and power is highly compared to the late musical icon, Whitney Houston. She has often been referred to the “Whitney Houston of Gospel music.”

As an Independent Recording Artist, Michelle has consistently performed at various indoor and outdoor concert venues, sporting events, private functions, and on notable national TV programs such as Dr. Bobby Jones Presents (Impact Network), TBN’s Praise the Lord, the Bishop Eric Lloyd Show (Rhema Network) and more. The vocal sensation has shared the stage with Grammy and Stellar Award-winning Gospel and Secular artists such as O-Town, LFO, Donnie McClurkin, James Fortune, Shana Wilson, Zacardi Cortez, Mel Holder, American Idol’s Malinda Doolittle, NBC’s The Voice Noah Liz, Americas Got Talent Sons of Setendip, and others. It is her extraordinary voice and striking presence that has captivated audiences, making her rich vocals synonymous with delivering the National Anthem as well as God Bless America at countless major sporting events for the NBA, NFL, MLS, NHL, and MLB! In June 2021, she was the winner of the NCAA College Baseball World Series National Anthem singer competition. In addition to her National Anthem performances, Michelle is a multi-winner of several vocal awards and competitions including the 2022 Unsung Heroes ($15,000), 2019 Keene Idol ($10,000) , and the 2017 the legendary Showtime Amateur Night at the Apollo ($20,000) to name a few.

In addition to her solo musical recording career, Michelle’s band “The MBT Music Experience” has had parallel musical success! Michelle was one of the first local artists to be booked at the new MGM Casino in Springfield, Massachusetts. In 2018 Michelle was a headlining artist for the MGM Summer Concert Series and the casino’s first VIP New Years Eve party. As a highly sought-after vocal performer in this region, Michelle and her band has not only headlined the MGM’s summer concert series but also the 2021 NBA Hall of Fame Enshrinement Concert, 2022 Baystate Noble Ball, Springfield’s Faith Festival, Festival of Trees (3 consecutive years), the Springfield BID’s Annual Jam Fest, New Haven CT’s Arts & Ideas Festival, the Apollo Music Café, and many private events!

Michelle’s vocal ability has allowed her to release quality music in multiple genres such as Gospel, Smooth Jazz, Inspirational, and R&B Soul. Her latest music projects which include the singles “Never Give Up” (2022), “Phenomenal” (2022), and “Woman First” (2021), have charted consecutively on the music Billboards (Adult R&B Top 100 Chart, Gospel Billboard Indicator Top 30 Charts, Gospel Top 50 Internet Radio Chart, Smooth Jazz Top 100 Chart, Billboard National Airplay Chart, and Billboard Gospel Indicator Most Added Chart). Additional singles “Then I Met You” (2022), “Woman First”, and “Live It Up” (2021) charted on the Top 30 UK Soul Music Charts, Amazon UK Top 100 New Releases, iTunes UK and Brazil Top 100 R&B Releases, and other reputable International Top 100 music charts. Her single “Woman First” led to 4 award nominations with Kingdom Sound Radio Broadcast including Most Impact Artist of The Year, Female Artist of the Year, Female Urban Artist of The Year, and Inspirational Artist of The Year (2022 winner). Her single “Never Give Up” has been nominated for several awards including the 1st round ballot of the 53rd Annual Dove Awards for Traditional Gospel Song of the Year and the GRAMMYS for Best Gospel Performance. In addition, she is nominated in 6 categories for the 2023 Rhythm of Gospel Awards, which is the third largest Independent Artist Gospel Awards platform and the 2023 Gospel Choice Music Awards. In June 2022, Michelle was awarded the Community Impact Award for Outstanding Gospel Vocalist and Artist Spotlight Award by FPAD non-profit organization (Conyers, GA). In 2023, she was awarded the Black in Excellence on the Hill award from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the Community Leadership Award by New Year Better Us Organization (Springfield, MA).

Michelle released her first Inspirational EP in 2015 entitled “My Life’s Testimony’’ featuring her single, “When I Think.” The EP featured smoothed sounds infused with Gospel, Jazz, and R&B elements. Her EP ultimately led to three award nominations in the 2016 Rhythm of Gospel Awards, an Independent Gospel Artist Music Awards platform. In August 2017, she released her second independent single titled “I Am Triumphant," which was instantly added to 60+ US and International radio stations. Michelle’s single debuted on the national BDS reporting charts for Gospel Music as “Most Added Song” in September 2017. In 2018 Michelle was a 4x nominee in the Season 11 Prayze Factor Awards and won Contemporary Christian Artist of the Year.

As a result of Michelle’s musical success, she was nominated and inducted into the national Stellar Awards Gospel Music Academy and the Grammy Recording Academy. With her love for young people in the musical arts and athletics, she founded “Heart of The Earth;” a nonprofit organization which helps youth use their musical and athletic talents to transform their lives. Michelle is a wife, mother of 3, former Bank Manager Vice President, philanthropist, and motivational speaker.
