I am a solo acoustic guitar/harmonica player specializing in corporate events, wedding cocktail hours and children's parties. For corporate events I offer a very easy and relaxing set that is designed to serve as background music for the event. For children's parties I provide fun, lively and accessible music that children can dance around to complete with shaky eggs and batons with ribbons and bells. I am now available to perform a song or two as part of the backdrop of a marriage proposal. You pick the song, if it can be played on an acoustic guitar chances are I can perform it for you while you propose. Additional guitar/mandolin and maybe even banjo accompaniment is available.
Mike was great. He mingled. He interreacted. He played music. He sang. He was very attentive to the cues and worked around the agenda we had. He was a great team player which is critical during any event! 5 stars indeed!
Has Music Mike for a 3rd birthday party with about 12 kids ranging from baby to teen (12) and was a great success! The parents down to the babies enjoyed the music, his multifaceted talent, song choice, instruments he brought and soulful voice. Highly recommend him!
Mike played a few songs for our surprise engagement and also a few songs on our wedding day. He made sure we had a sound plan of action for both event, and also did a good job performing the songs that we requested.
Mike created an incredible atmosphere for my wedding cocktail hour. His fantastic sound along with the creative twists he puts on his music had all 160 guests grooving and relaxing, it was perfect. Mike even learned a special Hindi song upon request-- and completely nailed it!! He had professional equipment to fill the large room completely and was an absolute pleasure to work with. I would recommend Mike to anyone looking for a top tier musician.
Mike played at my husband’s surprise 50th birthday celebration, and his music was a huge hit! Mike performed a perfect blend of songs so that at certain points during the night, the entire crowd was singing along and even at times up and dancing. He was the perfect addition to make the party that much more memorable. I would highly recommend him to enhance any celebration!
Music Mike was the star of my son's 3rd Birthday!! He was great with the kids, and played all their favorite songs. Everyone was involved dancing and making requests. He played all the old favorites like Old McDonald and Hokey Pokey, and new favorites like Baby Shark. My son couldn't have been happier! He also seems to really enjoy being around kids and entertaining. A really great guy. Would definitely recommend for your next event!
Mike came to help celebrate my little one's first birthday. He was on time (even a little earlier) and brought a ton of instruments and props to keep the kids entertained. He played all of the songs the kids knew plus a ton of extras. He tried to get parents involved too so everyone could enjoy together. Everything was wonderful and I highly recommend hiring him for music classes and birthday parties!
We hired Mike for my sons 1st birthday party. He was very professional and overall excellent! The adults and kids loved him. He was the life of the party. I would definitely use Mike for future events.
We had a birthday party with about 15 kids (ranging 18month-7yrs) and about 20 adults in our home - Mike was amazing. He got here a little early to set up and then was able to alter between kids songs and engaging with the kids, to music for the adults as the kids drifted in and out. We really appreciated how he was able to be pretty self-guided as we were chasing around our son and trying to talk to guests. He was extremely entertaining and patient with the kids, knew all of the songs that our son loves, and handled some requests really well. Would definitely use again!
Music Mike did an excellent job performing at my daughter’s first birthday party. He read the crowd very well, took requests in real time, switched between guitar, ukeleli and banjo seamlessly and brought drums, scarves and tambourines for the kids to play with. The kids danced, the adults sang, and everyone was asking when they could hear Music Mike play again! Highly recommend him for a children’s birthday party.
Mike was terrific with the kids, even singing their names. He alternated between instruments, which really intrigued the children. It was a very intimate live music performance for children (all 2 and under) and the perfect way to celebrate a child’s birthday.
I hired Mike to perform at our son's 1st birthday party, for a crowd of 150 guests. Communicating with Mike during the process was so seamless - he was always very responsive and put me to ease. He arrived well before the start time, got set up, and sang and played tunes for all age groups and adults. It was a terrific decision to hire Mike and I cant recommend him enough...thank you!!
It’s amazing how a little live music can just make any event extra special. Mike put on an amazing performance for our friends surprise 50th. He keeps the party going with his casual balance of great music perfectly tailored to the requests of the party goers. Thanks Mike can’t wait to have you perform again.
Mike was punctual, professional and so much fun. He arrived early to set up and engaged the toddlers with their favorite songs. All of the little ones had so much fun dancing on his drums and strumming the ukulele. I would definitely recommend him for a fun festive party for your little ones!
Mike was amazing!! He played everything we asked for and several different instruments. The kids loved when he played the banjo right next to them. Would definitely hire him again for another party!!!
Mike was outstanding and I highly recommend him. He was hired to assist with a proposal and I was thrilled with his professionalism.
I live overseas, so planning a surprise in Central Park was a challenge, but Mike was fantastic and gave me one less thing to worry about (which means a lot on such a stressful day!).
Mike maintained a great level of communication and learnt the set list I requested and performed flawlessly.
It was an absolute pleasure working with him!
We had “music mike” for our 1 yr olds Birthday and he was great! There were props for the kids, and Everyone enjoyed from ages 1- 75. When he wasn’t playing children songs he catered to the adults- everything from Wheels on the Bus to The Grateful Dead! He brought Everything he needed and it was so wonderful to just let him in and not have to worry about a thing! He was amazing!!
We recently had Music Mike for our 5 year old's birthday party and it was awesome! We spoke at length before the party about my son, his love for music and what we wanted the party to feel like. Mike came and provided exactly what we talked about. The kids loved it and so did the adults! I would highly recommend!
Mike helped me out last year providing entertainment for an event for a non-profit organization. He was easy to work with, pleasant and responsive and played great music so, I thought of him first this year when planning my children's birthday party. Once again, Mike was reliable, arrived before the event to set up, and everyone thought the music was great. He played songs for the kids and adults so everyone had a wonderful time. I didn't need to worry about anything with the entertainment which was a relief because I was busy with everything else. Everything was going so well that I asked him to stay for a third hour which he did. My two experiences with Mike were both awesome.
Mike did a wonderful job playing at my daughter's 5th birthday party and was a hit with the adults, as well! He played a wonderful mix of children's music and classic pop songs such as the Beatles. The drums were a big hit with the kids! Mike was responsive to my request, as it was fairly short notice and I had become concerned about finding someone in time.
Mike performed for my daughter's baby shower to the delight of all the guests. He's a great singer and musician and his performance made the event so much more festive and enjoyable.
He is professional and also has a very approachable personality.
I would highly recommend Mike
Mike covered all genres of music at a backyard clambake/bbq/pool party and all of our guests raved about how great he was! He kept everyone entertained from young children to adults. Everyone was signing along and he was great about fulfilling every request from our 5 year old!
We hired Mike to play music for our daughter's 3rd birthday party and we couldn't be happier - Mike literally made the party! Not only did all of the kids love Mike and have a wonderful time, but all of the adults did too (and needed to know how I found him)! He played the perfect mix of adult and children's songs, kept the kids engaged with wonderful music selections and fun props (drums, tambourines, scarves) and set a fabulous mood at the party from the minute he started playing. Prior to the party, Mike was extremely responsive, communicative, professional and pleasant. I would hire Mike without hesitation for another event (whether it is for kids, adults or both) and highly recommend him.
Mike recently performed music at a large cocktail party we hosted for 60 people in a large space. He is an incredibly talented musician (vocals, guitar, harmonica, etc) with an excellent repertoire of great songs to play (from classic rock, to new wave, contemporary or folk). He played in the corner of the room with light amplification and added an wonderful vibe to the event. So much better than background music but not so loud that it ever intruded on conversations. He is a charming, relaxed guy, and he is a true professional. A+++
Mike arrived to the house in plenty of time before the party to set up and get situated. He played for the scheduled time and then some! He brought drums and shakers and scarfs for the kids to play with and get engaged. Parents and kids alike were happy. He has a very calm, easy going demeanor that put the kids at ease. By the end of the party he was taking requests from parents too. :) I highly recommend Mike!
We had a terrific experience with Music Mike who played for our son's 3rd birthday party. Mike's musical selection was perfect—fun and engaging for the kids and (it's true) the adults as well. 2&3 year old's unabashedly bopping atop gathering drums with shakers in hand is smile-inducing, as is spotting their adults singing along to tunes that adults know and like. It felt intimidated hosting a party with many toddlers and their parents whom we did not know well, but having Music Mike on hand was the perfect icebreaker and mood setter for a lively and fun occasion. He is kind, affable, and easy to work with; we could not have been more pleased. When asked about his recent birthday, our son has been exclaiming Music Mike's name first and foremost. The man left a lasting impression.
Mike performed at our house for mt daughter's 2nd birthday. He was amazing- the kids AND adults had a blast. If you are looking for music entertainment at your party you can't go wrong with Music Mike.
My name is Bobby I'm an London born racehorse rider living in Kentucky . My gorgeous now fiancé is a Kentucky native and I wanted to surprise this perfect country girl with the perfect proposal.
From the minute I met Mike a few months ago he changed my whole outlook on how special this occasion really could be. He always returned my calls and always put my mind at rest even though he has at times had situations much more important. For that I truly love him what a heart he has.
So we arrive at the location along the water immediately I spot Michelle the photographer my gf brittany has no idea as Michelle does such a great job of blending . We take a stroll down the route Mike had clearly and precisely planned for me. It was planned with military precision and for a ex military man like me this was perfection.
As we approached he was playing a legendary song absolutely note perfect we stood and listened . It was all part of the genius plan he had come up with. He strikes conversation then asks if we would like to hear a song he wrote ....he then began to play brittany's favorite song again note perfect.
He once said once I dropped to my knee I would barely be able to hear anything around me. He was right I was captured in the moment absolutely captivated in it. Time really did stand still
She said YES and we leapt with joy sitting here writing it it still doesn't feel real.
Brittany is pregnant so instead of bringing champagne Mike brought me some amazing goods from the British shop. The biscuits we ate on the stroll home.
Mike you are an amazing man I think of you and I smile. I can honestly say I miss you I miss the fact we won't be planning it I enjoyed speaking to you so much. You and Michelle made this the most memorable experience. You are the kindest most thoughtful man I have ever met. I desperately want to keep in touch and I am so glad I can call you my new friend.
Guys , girls if your reading this and you want memorable special personal experience. This man has it all.
Mike forever your friend.
Bobby
And again thank-you
Mike performed at our daughter's 2nd birthday party and truly made the party. Our daughter is still talking about "Music Mike" from her party. He happily obliged our request for a mix of Beatles, Grateful Dead, and children's songs. He agreed to come last minute, was very accommodating, and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend!!
We hired Mike for my son's 1st bday. We had heard good things and he certainly delivered. The way he keeps the party going and manages the flow of the party in general is amazing. His voice and guitar playing was out of this world. I'd highly recommend Mike and hope he's free in the future should we need him!
Mike is an incredible performer for both children and adults! He made our child’s first birthday a huge success. You absolutely should hire him for your next party.
Mike did a great entertainment for the party and he entertained not only kids but parents too. He sang for the party, indian song and Christmas songs, accompanying Santa till gift distribution. Keep it up👍
Mike provided the entertainment for my son’s 1st birthday party. There were about 16 kids ages 1 through 10. Each one of them had a great time, participated in the music, and loved the music props Mike brought along. The adults were equally as happy when Old McDonald would flow into a Billy Joel or Jack Johnson song! Mike was professional and a pleasure to work with. He helped contribute to a great party for all!
I had a wonderful experience with Mike. He is extremely responsive and reassuring. I knew from our first conversation that he was a professional and would make sure my proposal went seamlessly. After the Proposal he provided celebratory drinks and glasses. I couldn’t have pulled off such a memorable day without him.
Mike showed up on time, prepared, and with a gift for us. He presented a beautiful rendition of Jimmy Buffett's "love in the library" why lie proposed and remarried my wife in front of the New York Library. My wife is a librarian and her description of this event was that she was "gobsmacked." Thank you again Mike, you are the best! Highly recommend your services.
A business acquaintance connected me with Mike. I was looking for a reliable guitarist to perform at a fundraiser event for a non-profit organization. Mike responded promptly to my calls, emails, and texts and arrived exactly when I asked him to. His music and singing were fantastic and it was the perfect backdrop for our event. He is gracious and kind and I recommend him highly and look forward to hiring him again in the future.
Mike was great. From our early phone call, to finalizing logistics and then bringing the whole day together, he was professional and organized in addition to being a great guitarist and playing the type of music I wanted. He helped set up the scene perfectly and also lined up a photographer, which made things easier to plan. Despite a bit of a chill, he played through the cold and sang a bunch of great songs for us after the proposal. The experience was exactly what I was looking for. Highly recommend.
We hired Michael to preform at my son's second birthday party at my home. For the first part of the party he mainly catered to the children. For the second half of the party, during lunch, he played a wonderful set of family friendly music that both kids and adults all loved. My friends raved about it and it was a sincere pleasure to have him preform for everyone. You can't go wrong with Michael.
It was an absolute pleasure having Mike perform at our sons first birthday. He is kind, punctual, and an incredibly talented musician. He hplays a wide variety of music that's enjoyable for both children and adults. Mike brings props with him and the kids had a blast playing with the large drums and shakers. I'd highly recommend booking him!
I read great reviews about Music Mike and his music with kids. Took a leap of faith and hired him to play music for my 4 year old daughter's Trolls dance, hug, sing party. It was great for kids and adults alike. Lots of songs kids know....even "Let it Go"! It was nice to have live music for the adults/parents to mingle to as some people just meeting for the first time so a good distraction. He even worked in collaboration with my husband (a P.E. teacher) to do a musical hoops game for the kids which they loved. Mike was very easy going, flexible and a great musician.
Mike played acoustic guitar at our wedding and it was great! He was incredibly nice, was able to play all the songs that we wanted, and added a lovely touch to our outdoor ceremony. Thanks Mike!
Mike is the best! He was punctual, played kids and adult songs, took requests, and was such a great addition to our son's first birthday party! Would highly recommend!!
Mike performed at my daughters 1st birthday party. He was easy to communicate with prior to the party, giving me all the necessary details and answering questions I had. He had no problem playing for the duration of the party (took maybe 1 break in 3 hours) and played an array of music. He came with a ton of props (egg shakers, musical instruments, drums, scarves) for the young children to play with while he played a ton of current and classic childrens music. He also took time to play adult (classic rock) music for all of the adults at the party. I would definitely use him again! 2 of my friends already have signed up for their children's parties.
Had to change the venue at a later time. Mike was very flexible and my proposal went perfectly!
Mike played guitar and sang during our engagement, and it could not have been more special. He is a wonderful guy and beautiful musician, and it was an absolute pleasure to share our moment with him. We would highly recommend him for any special occasion.
Thanks again,
G&C
Mike made my sons party an event that both the kids and adults absolutely loved! His ability to read the room so that he plays a mix of kids and adult tunes depending on what's happening is amazing. The kids were dancing and playing while the adults felt like they were at a nice chill concert. He is so sweet and we are so glad that he'll be a part of the memories for us!
We invited Mike to play for our baby shower - a casual, family event that had adults and kids. It made the event so nice to have live music. We were so appreciative Mike drove to Connecticut for our party even with fairly significant snowfall. Definitely recommend for a family friendly event.
Mike was fabulous for my sons first birthday. He arrived prior to party to make sure all was ready (Microphone and speakers) for when people arrived and came with plenty of props, (drums, scarves, hand bells) that thoroughly kept the kids engaged for the entire party! I highly recommend him for your next event.
I did my proposal through Mike in Weehawken, NJ. He was excellent! Mike was very open to all of my proposal ideas and flexible as well. He was incredibly easy to get in touch with as he would make time for me to contact him whenever he could.
He was also personally invested in my proposal. It felt more like one of my close buddies was performing at my proposal rather than it being a business transaction. Mike sounded great on the guitar, and even took it upon himself to learn a new song just for my proposal. I chose Mike because of the excellent reviews he has on GigSalad, and I got to experience first hand why those reviews are all so incredibly positive.
Thanks again Mike for everything! Your professionalism, talent, and genuine care are very appreciated!
I'm going to say straight away that I could not be happier to have chosen Mike over all the musicians I'd looked at and contacted.
Mike has such a lovely heart and is such a genuine person it was perfect to have this kind of personality and persona when proposing to my partner. I honestly would recommend him to anyone playing something intimate like I did.
As I'm from the UK, Mike also recommended locations to me with photos which were a HUGE help. He learnt a few specific songs for me as well and he was extremely professional in terms of response efficiencey, approachability and knowledge.
Mike, from the bottom of my heart I would like to say thank you. I can't use words strong enough to show my appreciation to what you did and how you did it. You smiled the whole time, even though you must have been freezing! You dressed perfectly for the occasion (the photos are amazing) and you made me feel at ease being able to ask a million questions. I'm hugely greatful and I couldn't recommend you strongly enough.
Thank you Mike.
Mike Cranmer provided the perfect soundtrack to our celebration. Not only did he respect the fact that we wanted live music as the backdrop to our party (as opposed to being the centerpiece), he delivered the ideal performance for the setting and the crowd. His catalogue of songs covered the full spectrum of our favorite music, and he was conscientious in shaping his set list to our requests. Last but certainly not least, he is a talented musician, the kind of guitarist/singer we would love to just sit and listen to. Mike's performance was vital to our party being the fun, memorable night that we hoped it would be.
Mike helped me out with my engagemente proposal. I hired him to sing and play guitar (which he did amazingly) but also he helped me coordinate with the photographer, and in general to plan the whole idea. He was always texting me to see if everything was according to plan. I would say that he definetly exceed my expectations. Thanks Mike!
Mike just performed at our twin daughters' 1st birthday and thoroughly impressed everyone - both the adults and the children had a great time and loved the music, which is exactly what we wanted. Mike has a huge set list full of classic children's songs as well as contemporary songs adults could enjoy (Beatles, the Cure, etc) - he even played an Indian song, which my family particularly enjoyed! He brought along many props and music instruments for the kids to play with and was able to interact with and engage the children very well. Several people asked for his contact info, which we passed along. We weren't sure if we really needed to hire entertainment for a 1 year old's birthday party but we had seen Mike perform at a friend's party and knew as soon as we heard him that we had to hire him immediately - we booked him 7 months in advance and are so glad we did! We highly recommend him for any type of party!
Mike provided a wonderful enhancement to our 3 year old son's birthday party. We were seeking something "special" to add to our standard family/friend gathering at our house and this was perfect! Mike is comfortable interacting with kids and adults, going with the flow of the party, and is super patient with the really little ones touching his instruments and running all around. He is very relaxed and easy to work with. I recommend his services!
I hired Music Mike for my son's 1st birthday party after reading so many great reviews (i had never seen him in person before!). He was above and beyond my expectations! We had a large crowd of babies, toddlers and adults and everyone LOVED him! The kids were so engaged and enjoyed every minute dancing, singing along and playing on the big drums he brought with him. The adults loved that he played music they knew, too!! I would definitely hire him again - both for a kid's party as well as an adult-only party! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Mike was easy to prepare with, flexible in a way that was helpful for our program, and musically talented.
Mike arrived early to set up for our son's 2nd birthday. He brought with him a variety of guitars, including a banjo! We had several kids of different ages, and he played a variety of songs to satisfy them all (added bonus - he played a couple of songs for the adults). We highly recommend him for your kid parties.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mike a few months ago, back in June, when I first began planning my surprise proposal at Central Park. He was very professional, and worked with me every step of the way. He offered ideas, and suggested additional services that helped me finalize some of the details of the event. Mike and I were in constant communication throughout the week, prior to the event date, making it an easy and pleasant experience. On the day of the proposal, everything was well coordinated; everyone was on location, and on time. I was able to surprise my now finance, with our song (Over The Rainbow), which Mike played on the ukulele under the Gothic Bridge, and with our family over the bridge holding "Will You Marry Me" signs. Needless to say, she was speechless, and she had an unforgettable experience that is truly in part because of Mike making it memorable. Myself, my fiancé, and our entire family will never forget that moment. Thanks to Mike, we had a photographer (Howard Baden) who capture every moment for us. The pictures came out great, and we appreciate Mike's dedication to making sure we were completely satisfied with his services. Not only would I recommend Mike's services, but I will keep him in mind for any future events I may have.
Mike, it was a pleasure doing business with you.
Thank you,
John & Amber
My wife and I started planning our sons birthday party and quickly realized we had no idea how to entertain 25 1 - 3 year olds without it devolving into total chaos. Fortunately we happened to be talking to a friend one day who had just come from another toddler party and was telling us how wonderful the entertainer was...as we're talking Mike walked by lugging his instruments, toys, etc and we were smart enough to ask for his card. We booked him a few days later (using the gigsalad site to book made it incredibly easy) and the rest is history. I was originally hoping he'd play for an hour or so (we asked him to start at 3:30 for a party that went from 3 - 6) but he showed up early, started playing to welcome our guests as they arrived and played until after 5:30. Everyone loved him, the kids had a ball listening to the songs, dancing and playing with all the instruments he brought along (he also brought a bunch of fun toys that they had a great time with as well)...meanwhile his music is an awesome combination of kids music and songs that adults can enjoy too so everyone had a ball. We received a ton of compliments afterwards and I'm hoping at least a few will use Mike for their parties in the future (several asked us for his contact information). His rate was great, communicating with him was super easy and I'm not exaggerating when I say that he truly made our party a success. I have a feeling we'll be contacting him again next year when our son turns 3. Thanks Mike.
Mike performed at my daughters first birthday party today. He was so engaging and the kids and adults loved him. He was awesome to work with and very responsible. He brought little instruments for the kids and they loved it! I would highly recommend him for a kids party :)
I came onto gig salad at the beginning of 2016 looking for a musician for my September wedding in NYC. I requested quotes from a number of people and from the off Mike stood out. He was kind. Friendly and showed a genuine interest in me, my fiancé and our needs for the day. We decided on 3 songs. 2 we picked 1 Mike suggested. On the day Mike sang the 3 songs and more - going above and beyond to ensure our guests were entertained from the moment they arrived to the second they left after photos had been taken. The additional songs fitted the likes of us and our guests perfectly proving how well he understood us , our needs and the likes of the kind of guests we were likely to have with us.
Planning a wedding abroad can be a daunting experience. Hiring someone u will never meet or here sing live till the day is scary, but my day was perfect and a big Part of that is because of Mike. My ceremony was Perfect and I'll never be able to thank him enough.
My wife and I highly recommend Mike. We were first introduced to Mike at our friends daughters birthday party with children in the range of 2 - 5 years old. Mike did an excellent job entertaining the children and the adults were all enjoying themselves as well. Mike brings an assortment of instruments which he uses throughout the party and also brings along props and some instruments for the children to play with.
We had so much fun at our friends daughters party that we decided to hire Mike for our sons first birthday party which had 13 babies in the one year old range. The party was originally going to be in the park but due to a lot of rain we wound up having the party in our apartment. Although our apartment is not large, Mike was able to entertain the babies as they crawled and played around him. Mike kept the babies entertained for about an hour and a half and the party was a hit.
We have seen Mike entertain a group of 13 babies in the one year old range as well as seen him entertain over 15 children ranging from 2 - 5 years old. He did a great job on both occasions.
Mike performed at my daughter's 3rd birthday party. Leading up to the party, he was accommodating, professional, friendly, and the absolute best to deal with in planning. During the party, he made sure that all of our needs and wants were met and was engaging for kids and adults alike. Many party goers commented on his professionalism and the amazing atmosphere that he set for the party. We will definitely be using Mike for another party, for kids or for adults!
Last year we hired Mike to play at our son's birthday party and he was fantastic. As a result, we hired him back this year for a BIG adult outdoor party. (My husband insisted!). Many many people commented on how special it was to have Mike there and how good he was. He is very professional and a pleasure to do do business with him.
Mike Cranmer performed at our home for a 50th birthday party, and single-handedly transformed our evening with music that had everyone smiling. He's superbly talented, and has a wonderful stage presence.. tailoring his music, with great voice and instrumental selections, perfectly to our preferences. He was a delight to work with, friendly and professional, advising us and ensuring that the music fitted perfectly with the evening as it progressed. I would recommend him most highly.
Mike was amazing! He showed up right on time and started playing immediately. The kids (and adults) had so much fun singing along, playing instruments, and dancing . He was so much fun and so wonderful to work with- we want to plan another party just so he can perform again! Thanks Mike for making our twin girls' 1st birthday party so special!
I knew Mike from the NYC music scene and had lofty expectations after seeing him perform around the city by himself and also with bands but hiring him for my wedding proposal he really blew me out of the water. He is the consummate professional. I told him the ideas that I had and he pushed the envelope for me. He went above the call of duty to check out the space that I had planned out, worked perfectly with the photographer to make a plan, and when it came time for game day he knocked it out of the park. My girlfriend (now finance) and I were just taking the dogs for a long walk out in Williamsburg by the waterfront as far as she knew but when we came to a clearing by the river where you can see the skyline and the bridge we heard a guitarist by the water (Mike) playing one of my favorite songs so we walked over to investigate. As we approached I just asked him, "hey man, know any songs in the key of B?" which was our agreed upon que and he launched into a beautiful rendition of The Pogues classic "Love You Till The End" while I got down on one knee to propose. Following a huge round of applause from the crowd that had gathered in the park Mike still had yet another surprise, a rose for my future wife and a small bottle of champagne and two glasses for us to enjoy while the sun went down behind the Manhattan skyline. Couldn't have asked for anything more. The memories and pictures that we got we will cherish for the rest of our lives! I could nor recommend him more... A total All Star.
Mike is a wonderful entertainer with a heart of gold! He travelled to Stamford CT from NYC on a Sunday afternoon to provide entertainment at Inspirica Shelter for Women. My Girl Scouts serve dinner for them each year. The thing that I have noticed is that the residents seem to need a spiritual uplift more than they need food. Mike was the solution! This was the best year yet :)
We hired Mike for our son's first birthday. Both kids and adults enjoyed his wide range repertoire. I would highly Mike for any type of festivities you're planning. I'm sure we'll ask him to join our parties again.
Mike arrived to our party in a timely manner and had everything set up well before the party started. The kids were thrilled with his music and it certainly made the atmosphere more lively! Mike also belted out a couple of Indian songs to our delight. He was professional and definitely a good music entertainer. Highly recommend!
Mike has played at both my son's first and second birthday parties. What's great is that he plays for both the kids and the adults. Had some kid nursery rhyme type songs mixed in with some adult songs. The kids also enjoyed all the instruments he brought including the gathering drums. He also played several different instruments including the guitar, ukulele, Banjo and harmonica. His very easy to work with, nice, professional and talented. Everyone enjoyed his entertainment. Thanks Mike.
Mike was a great addition to our daughter's first birthday party. He kept all of the kids well entertained (ranged from 1 to 8) and even the adults loved his Beatles, John Mayer and Darius Rucker songs. He was personable, kind and easy to speak with. I would definitely recommend and even use him for our next event.
Michael came to our nursery school for a holiday event. He was very interactive with the kids and had them on their feet and dancing immediately! He sang holiday songs, familiar childrens tunes and took requests for popular music. It was a great event, thanks to Mike!
We hired Mike to perform at our son's 2nd birthday party at the end of October. In the weeks leading up to the event, he was quick to reply to emails, incredibly flexible with the types of songs we wanted him to play. On the day of the party, Mike was prompt, professional and set up quickly. My 2 year-old son was mesmerized from the very first chord. He remained in one spot for the duration of the party, singing, dancing, bopping along and playing the wide array of musical instruments Mike brought. Our son was infatuated with each new song and his eyes lit up when Mike showed him how to play the guitar strings. The adults were also entertained during lunch and enjoyed the set of 'other' songs. I highly recommend Mike for any type of party or event - he is wonderful!
Mike was very helpful and performed everything above and beyond my expectations. Would recommend for any event.
I contacted Mike about helping to plan the details of our engagement to make it truly special. I knew I wanted to propose while on a hike to make it a true surprise, and worked with Mike to come up with some amazing ideas. After I told Mike I wanted to propose at Minnewaska State Park (NY) he had an immediate recommendation for a spot (which was not going to be easy for him to get to) but it ended up not being feasible as the trail was closed for repairs. Instead, we had discussed moving this to a waterfall site which was actually much closer to the parking lots, but he was previously unfamiliar with that location (the park is massive). A week or two prior to the engagement date, he sent me a video of the waterfall which his wife took that day, and said "this is the place - wow!" Mike is a true professional and made it seem like he just happened to be there when we arrived. My then girlfriend had no idea that he was there for us, even after he approached to offer to take a picture using my iphone camera. Mike seamlessly helped me transition from there to popping the question. There was no awkwardness at all and in the moment immediately before at least, he helped make it incredibly easy and stress free. I also asked for him to provide a photographer (Howard) who captured the moments leading up to, during and after I proposed. In my opinion, this was money significantly well spent. No staged, corny engagement photos for us - thanks to Mike and Howard we have the real thing! I cant recommend contacting Mike for your engagement planning enough. You wont regret it.
My wife hired Mike to sing and play guitar for me as a surprise at our wedding. The ceremony started at 130 so when I arrived at 1 he gave me a personal show of some of my favorite songs. This was all a surprise for me and I'll never forget it. Not that I needed it BUT it was a reminder of why I was marrying her in the first place. As I sat there crying like a baby, Mike played some of my favorite songs, which I later found out we're some of his favorite songs. I was really touched and I could tell he was touched too. She also told me he helped her prior to that say by picking out songs and even rewriting them a bit to fir the occasion. I can't say enough about him. The guy is great!
I watched Mike play at the Red Lion in Manhattan, and someone mentioned he did children's parties as well. My daughter was turning 5 the following week, and we had no real plans for how to entertain 10 children at our house. So we hired Mike. Turned out to be a great decision (with me scoring points with my wife for taking the initiative).
Mike was punctual (in fact early), fitted in immediately with the vibe of the party, and knew how to naturally get started and get everyone involved. The kids LOVED him. There was lots of dancing and singing along, and he was so good-natured even with kids yelling instructions or requests or telling him inane and unrelated stories.
I highly recommend Mike; it's definitely worth the money. My friend told me that parents were saying "what a great party" as they were walking to the elevator to leave.
Daniel (father of Ella)
Mike performed at our recent Fall Festival and had children and adults alike gathered around dancing, singing, smiling and tapping their toes. From the minute he started singing, you could see folks asking each other 'who's that singing' and the buzz around the fair was audible. We can't wait to have Mike back again to sing his fun 'kids version' of favorite tunes.
I hired Mike to play at a Halloween party for about 40 kids, mostly 2 and 3 years of age. He was very friendly, engaging with the children, and very accommodating. In order to keep the small ones happy, he played some of the big hits more than once. A big success were his drums, that he left on the floor so the kids could play along.
Mike is a sure bet to keep the crowd engaged and having fun. Highly recommend.
We first encountered Mike at Pete's Tavern in Bronxville a few years back. We loved his set, and so did our daughter. Mike informed us that he also did children's birthday parties. This year our daughter turns 3 and very specifically asked for a "Pink Dance Party." I immediately thought of Mike, and ironically found his card he gave me while cleaning out the random drawer in my kitchen. Just as we remember his musicality and song selections were amazing. The adults at the party thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment, and so did the kids. He mixed in sets of acoustic children's songs and got the kids involved with musical props. We couldn't have been happier with the entertainment! Thank you Mike and can't wait to find a reason to bring you back for more!!
This was our second experience with Mike, and it couldn't have been better. Mike is personable, and LOVES to entertain. The party was about 100 people, and Mike made the event. The end of the night was him playing requests and even turning over the mic for a song or two. He is great, and I couldn't recommend him more!
Mike was extremely responsive in the weeks leading up to my son's 1st birthday party, which I really appreciated as I scrambled to pull all of the other pieces together. With so many other variables when planning an outdoor party for infants, I knew from the very beginning that when working with Mike, I would not have to worry about keeping the babies entertained. He arrive early, played music for the adults while we waited for everyone to arrive, and then entertained both the babies and adults for even longer than we had booked him. Mike brought with him a bag of instruments for the babies to play with and had large gathering drums that the babies enjoyed climbing all over. He stayed around to play "Happy Birthday" for my son and really made the day extra special for us and our family and friends. I would not hesitate to hire Mike to play at our next party and you shouldn't either!
Mike played at our son's birthdays party, which was also an outdoor pool party. Everyone commented after the party how lovely Mike's music was. He did a mix for the adults and some favorites for the kids. I highly recommend Mike to anyone. I would love to have him at an adult BBQ. Additionally he was so flexible and very punctual on email when we were coordinating the event.
Music Mike was the perfect addition to my twins 2nd birthday party. It was a great gathering of friends and family, and the music was enjoyed by all. The kids were able to sing, dance, and play along with the instruments Mike brought along. He played all of their favorite tunes, along with a few adult favorites. He definitely made this special day a memorable one! Everyone loved Music Mike!
Mike was fantastic. He was a pleasure to work with from the first email to the day of the engagement. He was on point with responding to emails quickly, and I never had a doubt in my mind that I had chosen the right guy for the job. If you are looking for a guitar player for your proposal, Mike is the right choice!
We really enjoyed having Mike at our son's first birthday party. There were not too many kids but Mike did a great job of entertaining both the children and the adults! Very professional and I would highly recommend him.
I hired Mike to play guitar in Central Park while I sang a song to my girlfriend in a surprise proposal to her. From the start, Mike was a huge help in ensuring this would be a day neither I or my fiancee will ever forget. I am not from New York and Mike took the time to discuss various proposal locations and help me pick the perfect spot. He took the time to learn a new song for the occasion, organized a photographer for the day, helped come up with a logistical plan and even helped with restaurant suggestions. Mike was available to talk about the event whenever I needed to reach him and he was more than happy to offer any help/suggestions he could and really helped to take the pressure off of me. My marriage proposal would not have gone nearly as smoothly without the enthusiasm and professionalism of Mike. His musical talents were spectacular and he was able to play all of the songs I had requested. I cannot say enough great things about him. He was an absolute pleasure to work with.
Michael was great to work with from the moment I made contact. He was always very responsive to my emails and we easily finalized the arrangements once he confirmed he was available. And I am so glad that he was because he did a phenomenal job. From the minute he arrived (early, with plenty of time to set up and get settled) he was fabulous - playing a great mix of children's songs and adult music that appealed to everyone (a wide range of ages and to the children as well). He brought lots of fun musical instruments, kept the kids engaged and played for well over two hours (approaching three), with a smile on his face the whole time. I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone looking for children's or adult entertainment and look forward to working with him again in the future.
I couldn’t thank Mike enough for the role he played in my proposal. Not only did he serve as the musician, he helped me plan every step of it. I found Mike through Gid Salad and since then he was an integral part of my planning process from scoping out the locations, and guiding me through everything. I started talking to him months before my proposal and I can honestly say he was such a pleasure to work with and always made himself available when I had questions or needed any help. He came up with back up plans, went above and beyond what I could have asked from him and knew every song I wanted him to play during my proposal. He also helped me find the photographer and videographer and made sure everything was as smooth as possible. I not only recommend working with Mike if you need a Musician but I can assure he will do what he can to make sure your special day will go as smoothly as possible and the most memorable day of your life.
Thank you Mike for making our engagement so memorable!! A lot of work/prep and pressure was involved in this surprise proposal and we just want to say that Mike was the icing on the cake. I (confused gf being proposed to) had no idea what was going on , all I could hear was his wonderful music that really, in essence set the mood to the entire proposal. It was so fitting and just perfect! Thanks again,
Soumya & Vinod
Mike played while I proposed to my girlfriend in Central Park. It was magical. I requested three songs and Mike knew them all and played them beautifully on a frigid February night. He was always willing to discuss details about how the proposed was going down and made himself available via text, cell, email at any time. He is a professional is every sense of the word and is truly gifted musician. 5 stars are not enough!
We used Michael for our son's first birthday. He was very professional and even played some songs on the phone for my son to hear before the party. We asked him to play some adult music at the beginning and then move onto kiddie songs. Both parents and children enjoyed his music. Great voice and very talented with his different instruments. He also put instruments out fit the kid to play with. Highly recommend!
Mike played at our daughter's 4th birthday party and was great! Very personable and fun - he brought an energetic vibe to the party and the kids loved the music and ability to perform along with him - he provided kid's maraca's and other musical toys.
Mike played at my daughters 1st birthday party this past weekend and it was wonderful! He engaged all the children and adults and played for the whole party! He brought music shakers and tambourines for the children and even took song requests! Highly reccomend!
Mike's element of surprise was remarkable. He went from an awesome guy just playing the guitar on the street to someone that literally stopped time for us. He made our event a moment that will never be forgotten. So special! Thank you Mike for coming out on that cold night and warming all of our hearts with magic.
What more can you ask of someone? But that's not always an easy thing to do. A bunch of people came together that evening to celebrate a common friend. Some of us know each other well, a little or not at all, yet we all shared a special magical moment standing outside listening to mike play. It was beautiful. And he was so sincere and soulful. I'll never forget it. None of us will. I'd hire him in a second for any event no matter what the occasion. Thank you!
Mike, thank you again for doing such an amazing job! From the creativive collaboration, to learning some new music for us, to your perfect execution...you truly made our night even more special! Thank you!
Mike,
There isn't enough words I can say to thank you for an amazing night. What you did for us, will never be forgotten. For all those who are thinking about hiring Mike for a gig, you will be very happy you went with him.. I found mike on this site, by posting that I needed a singer for a special night. Within 5 min Mike had called me and wanted to be apart of it. The man was celebrating an anniversary with his wife and still made time for us. He is by definition an amazing person. I made a new friend Saturday 11/08/14, Mike Cranmer is his name.. Thank you again for everything..
It was absolutely a delight to work with Mike for the Princeton HealthCare System Foundation's Celebration of Philanthropy. Mike was extremely adjustable in all aspects of the event. He was punctual, kind, and played exactly in tune with the mood of the event. We would definitely recommend him as he is overall a very nice person as well. Thank you for everything Mike!
We hire Michael to play at a joint first and fortieth birthday party for my daughter and me. I hadn't known what to expect because I hadn't seen Michael perform before. He was wonderful: a pleasure to work with from the beginning. He was very accommodating about timing and requests and very timely in his responses. He was professional and respectful (asking me things about the dress code and the venue -- questions I wouldn't have thought to ask). And well, the key though is the performance. He was a big hit with everyone from the youngest babies to the grandparents. He played everything and kept the kids thoroughly entertained. Folks were raving about him. He also played all three hours of the party at a very reasonable rate. I cannot recommend Michael highly enough.
Mike recently played at a birthday party we had for our 2 year-old daughter. Everyone enjoyed his music! He played a nice mix of children's songs and rock classics that people of all ages enjoyed. He brought lots of fun things for kids to shake and move. Mike was very flexible and easy to work with. He brought everything he needed. I would highly recommend him for your event.
A couple of days before my daughter’s 3rd birthday party I was searching online for entertainment. She is very much into the show “The Fresh Beat Band” and is fascinated with instruments of all kinds. We had hired a caricature artist for her first birthday and a specific children’s musician with parachute and bubbles for her second birthday for about 25 adults and her 10 cousins ages 1-12. The music and instruments were a hit but the goofiness, indoor bubbles, and only children’s music coupled with a 2 hour time limit were not.
I stumbled across Mike Cranmer (Solo Guitarist/Singer who plays children’s songs and various tunes that the adults would enjoy) on Gig Salad. I called him at 10:15PM on a Wednesday. I left a message and he promptly called back within fifteen minutes.
Mike was easy going and I instantly got a great vibe from him while on the phone. Although I had not heard him sing a note or play an instrument I believed in his ability and trusted him as a person/performer to be in the company of my family and more importantly my 3 year old daughter.
I e-mailed Mike the details of the Party and he gave me a courtesy response to let me know he received it and confirmed he would be there.
Mike arrived on time with his guitar, banjo, ukulele, and harmonica along with a bag full of shakers, ribbon sticks, and other fun stuff too. Overall the kids seemed very comfortable with him and my daughter who is very hesitant when it comes to strangers warmed up to Mike within minutes after he shared his banjo with her. It was awesome to see her strumming right alongside of him while he played one of her favorite tunes.
As for me and my wife who were running around trying to ensure everything else at the party was going smoothly, we both agreed that it was great to have an excellent mix of music playing at just the right volume during the entire party.
We will definitely ask him back in the future for other parties and functions. We may have to because my daughter keeps asking when Mike is coming back to play more music with her.

We recently hired Mike to play at a group 4-year-old kids party. There were about 80 people there (40 kids, 40 adults) & Mike was fantastic. He had the kids dancing and shaking shakers. The grown ups were bopping too -- lots of old favorite kid songs, folk songs, Beatles, Guthrie. He kept up a steady energy level so the party never had an awkward lag & the volume was just right-- not too loud for little ears & adults could still talk to each other at normal volumes. Mike has a great rapport with the kids & was on time & professional . Highly recommended!
Mike helped me set up my wedding proposal and I am in debt to him for LIFE. He helped make it PERFECT. I'm from California and found Mike online. I talked to at least 5 others and he was the most professional, the most personable, and definitely the most helpful. He learned an obscure song and nailed it perfectly. He also helped me scout the location, set up a photographer, and gave me weather updates leading up to the day of. Afterwards, he followed through to ensure the pictures got delivered and just to check in. If anyone was considering him for an event I would highly recommend you follow through. My experience with Mike lasted less than an hour in person but the planning and follow through made all the difference in the world. I've told my wedding proposal story over and over again and the most common question I get is "How did you set all that up from California?!" Simple answer: I found Mike and he did the rest!
Don't second guess using Mike for your event.
I commissioned Mike to record a personalized version of a Buddy Holly song to commemorate my daughter's 1st birthday. This is my first time doing something like this so I had no idea what to expect. Mike is professional, responsive, and just all around great to work with. The final product is incredible and will for sure become a treasured family heirloom in the coming years as my daughter grows up. Thanks, Mike!
Mike is fantastic and made my proposal perfect. I gave him very short notice (2 days) to learn an obscure song that was very important to both my girlfriend (now fiance') and I, and he really nailed it. Afterwards he played a beautiful Beatles song for us as well.
Mike was also extremely professional in how we set up the surprise proposal. If you're considering a music accompaniment for a special occasion I highly recommend him.
From the start of our communication Mike went above and beyond with my requests to make the proposal to my now fiancé the best day of our lives... So far! His kindness and professionalism shone through from beginning to end and we can not recommend him highly enough. Even to suggest the photographer to join him made the experience and our journey even more spectacular. I was trying to organise the proposal in New York from our home in Sydney and I honestly believe I could not have done it without Michaels help.
Thank you Michael for everything you have done we are eternally grateful.
Eddie and Kat (engaged to be married 2015!)
Mike Cranmer has played at our country club's children's Christmas parties. Everyone enjoys his singing and appreciates the variety of music he plays. He even brings items for the kids to play as they dance to his awesome music! He is on time and gets right to work playing all crowd favorites. Check him out. You won't be disappointed!
Mike played the christening party of our son-- we hired him because we had seen him playing a friends' birthday party. Our event was at an outdoor beer garden space, with a a few dozen kids, a few dozen parents and a few dozen older folks & grandparents-- a wide range of ages present. Mike did a great job playing music suitable for all three of those groups-- keeping the kids happy with singalongs and the rest of us happy with Beatles, Van Morrison.. happy party music. He was friendly and welcomed requests. He was generous with our 12-yr-old nephew who is a budding guitarist himself and who asked to sit in for a few songs. Everyone was having such a great time that the party went longer than expected and Mike easily agreed to extend the music another hour or two at a reasonable price. Great music, good dude.. we recommend.
Mike is *awesome*!!! He serenaded my new fiance and I at the Bethesda Fountain when Jason proposed a few weeks ago. He even learned new songs (country! Hey, I'm from the south!) to play songs that were special to us. He definitely went above and beyond to make our moment so memorable and special. We can't thank you enough :) I will always remember that moment, made even more special by your music! Thank you!!! We definitely recommend Mike :)
Mike was great at working with us, communicating in advance, very friendly to guest and wonderful with the children. We waited 18 years to have our day and the fact that we had songs that were meaningful and touching to us made it more special. He has a wonderful sound and added a very special touch.
Mike was fantastic!!! Music was great for both children and adults! He was accomodating, professional and helpful. He let the children touch the instruments, sang their favorites songs, and played tiredlessly for what seem to be the whole party. I cannot say enough great about him. Highly recommended!!!
Mike was great! Played the music we wanted, kept the crowd entertained, also willing to have a conversation with a guest when asked a question or to play a special request.
Mike was fantastic!..even in a busy playground the kids were very entertained with the fun, age-appropriate music that was played!...I highly recommend you use Mike for your next party!..He was also gracious enough to perform some adult preferred music at the end!!!
Mike is a wonderful entertainer. He easily captured the children's attention and engaged them in his music with his guitar, banjo and harmonica..
We recently saw Mike play at the New Canaan Nature Center's GardenFest. His music and singing added so much to the outdoor atmosphere with his combination of adult tunes and kid's songs. The kids had a blast dancing around in front of him on the stage and were drawn to him immediately. He was so friendly and easy going- great with the crowd. We were lucky enough to get him back for the Nature Center Preschool's family picnic and this time he played acoustically. The kids swarmed around him, and he let them check out the guitar and banjo. They were dancing and singing along, and it made the picnic a huge success. I would highly recommend him and hope he comes back here to play again!
Mike played guitar and sang at our son's third birthday party. His communication prior to the party was first rate, and he was set up and ready to play even before his scheduled start time. A perfect mix of children-specific songs and plain old great songs that children enjoy as well led to a great party for parents and kids alike. Our son sat rapt pretending to play his children's guitar for most of the concert.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mike for your next party, and we'd be happy to have him play for us again.
Responded quickly, very friendly, reliable and professional.
Look no further if you would like a professional, fun and unforgettable experience for whatever you are looking for.
I sought out a singing guitarist for my proposal on gigsalad.com and was pleasantly surprised by all of the artists that wanted to help me on my adventure. Coming from Minneapolis, it was not an easy task to find a professional that I could trust in NY city. About 15 musicians communicated to me that they were the right choice and would love to be a part of my proposal. After conversing with Mike a few times he convinced me that he was my guy. Mike mentioned that the performance of "Ho Hey" by the The Lumineers would best be played with the help of his friend and a madolin! Additionally, Mike gained my trust and respect with quick responses to all communication and additional advice on locations for the meeting.
After months of planning, the big day came and Mike and his friend were waiting for me on Elizabeth and Bayard just as we had discussed. He was very welcoming and put me at ease in my moment of excitement and anxiety.
I could not have been happier or more pleased to walk my fiancee to the the corner of Canal and Bowery to our meeting spot. As we got closer to our rendezvous point, Mike, his guitar and friend with mandolin began "our song" "Ho Hey". It was a perfect moment as the guitar, lyrics and strings played in unison! My girlfriend was about to become my fiancee and Mike made the moment unforgettable.
I'll be telling this story for the rest of my life and Mike will be solidified as a centerpiece of the tale. Thank you Mike for your preparation, professionalism and punctuality for 3 minutes that we will never forget!
Michael was great! Easy to work with and very hard working. He did a great job with short notice in a tough situation. Highly recommended for any job!
Response from Mike Cranmer:
Thank you so much. It reads well. Hope you're enjoying your engagement. If you guys need someone to do the wedding cocktail hour lemme know. Hope school's going well too.
Mike
Uncle Mike (as all my kids friends call him) just played for my sons third birthday party. Not only did we enjoy his music tremendously but we also loved his company. He was warm, patient and inexhaustible. He even learnt my sons favorite song from Jungle Book, upon an earlier request, and played it for him. In addition to his guitar he played the banjo. We would love to have him play at future parties.
We sought Mike's services for our daughter's 2nd birthday. Unfortunately, the hurricane made it challenging for many of our guests to show up as well as Mike (who did not have power at the time). Regardless, he came through, and my daughter, her friends and the adults had a great time. He played a nice mix of children's songs and songs that the rest of us could relate to. He was engaging, professional and a pretty talented singer/guitarist. I would recommend him without reservation, and will likely have him play for us again in the future.
Mike played for my daughter's 2nd birthday party. As many parents of toddlers know, there is no shortage of childrens' entertainers. There are your over-enthusiastic theatre majors who have no idea how to handle "spirited children" (read kids hopped up on birthday cake and plenty of other sugar), there are the hipster career artists who do parties to supplement their other gigs and who are equally unprepared for kids like mine that enjoy giving everyone within a 25foot distance a heart attack, and there are other entertainers who are hungover, hopped up on something themselves or who treat the kids like tiny idiots and just make parents want to bang their head on a wall. Mike is none of these. He does sing kids' songs but will sit right in the middle of a group of toddlers and happily let them dance, jump, squeal and generally be toddlers. He also does other songs that can be enjoyed by adults as well as the kids- for instance, my daughter and all her little friends danced around with mommy as Mike sang "Harvest Moon." His voice is very soothing as well and all the adults stayed and enjoyed the entire set of songs, which says a lot in my opinion. All around a person couldn't ask for a better children's entertainer- he even brings his own tiny instruments for the kids so they may join in the fun- or even for an adult only party. I would gladly hire him again for birthdays or any other special occasion.

Corporate/Wedding Cocktail Hour Sets: As a performer at these types of events the idea is not to angle for the spotlight. My goal here is to play fun and familiar music that melds into the flow of the event. Attendees usually will stop by and say hello if a particular song catches their ear. If one were to ask an attendee what their impression is, they remember general pleasantness and some might recall hearing a song they haven't heard in awhile. So potential clients can expect a reliably good, professional sounding set of music that will round out an event nicely without being too intrusive. They should not expect bombast or outlandish stage antics. It's just a good crisp clean hour to 3 hours of music.
For children's parties, clients can expect a very light and fun set of music that is perfect for little ears and their parents. You can certainly expect many children's standards as listed below. I also throw in songs that are fun for the parents too. I can tweak this set accordingly per the preference of the client. I bring a bag of shaky eggs and batons with ribbons and bells so the kids have a way of interacting with the music.
My name is Mike Cranmer and I have been playing guitar and harmonica for 26 years, performing for 14. In that span of time of time i have been able to develop versatile sets that can be tailored for any event. I am available for corporate events, trade shows, conventions, conferences, corporate retreats, birthday parties, weddings (ceremonies, cocktail hours and receptions, marriage proposals, children's parties or simply anything/anywhere an acoustic guitar is needed to enhance your dining experience.
Corporate Event Sets: For 4 1/2 years I have had a Fortune 1000 company as a client. On a weekly or bi-weekly basis I entertain guests at the company's leadership development & training center in Westchester County. The campus has a state of the art bar area and rec room with pool tables, foos ball, etc. This set is comprised of easy and familiar favorites. With each performance my repertoire grows as people ask for new songs. In the course of 2 years I have observed and learned the dynamics of a corporate audience. In many instances guests enjoy my sets as they are designed to be, a distant soundtrack to their conversation. Often however, guests take a break from the conversation to enjoy the music and engage me. It's always encouraging to be approached by guests to play a certain request. My policy is that if I know it, I'll be more than happy to play it. I welcome those with musical talent to join me on the microphone or even play guitar if they have that ability. It livens up the party for guests to see one of their own performing. It's my pleasure to facilitate this. I'm always adding new songs to this list and I am quasi-agnostic with respect to genres that i play. Trade shows, conventions, conferences all fit neatly under the heading of corporate event
Birthday Parties: Liven up your birthday event with some acoustic guitar. Situate me on the porch, in front of the fire pit/chiminia, by the pool, by the couch, wherever.
Weddings: As a solo I'd most appropriate for the ceremony piece of a wedding or perhaps the cocktail hour. For a reception I can certainly do that as well in situations where it's small and simple. I do have 2 duos, the first is a smaller version of my band Setting Suns. Rootsy, folksy, rockin'. This is perfect for barn, farm, country rustic weddings where acoustic music is preferred to a DJ. Instruments like banjo, mandolin, slide guitar, acoustic guitar are utilized. Artists we cover include, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Jackson Browne, Steve Earle, Little Feat, Dwight Yoakam, Garth Brooks, The Hanks (Sr., Jr. & III), Grateful Dead, Wilco, Eagles, David Allan Coe. to name a few. See:

My other duo project is called Los Huevos. Simply put, this duo is about performing music for music lovers. This set is an homage to the now defunct but nonetheless legendary WLIR/WDRE radio station from Garden City, Long Island. Lot's of 80's British post mod classics from The Cure, The Smiths, New Order, Echo & the Bunnymen Psychedelic Furs, Squeeze, Billy Bragg, Love & Rockets, Yazoo, The Pretenders, The English Beat, plus older British artists and bands like the Stones, Beatles, Rod Stewart, etc.. We also perform out of the way gems from this side of the pond that channel our fandom of WFUV, 90.7 on the FM dial, the Fordham University station. In this vein we perform songs by artists and bands such as Rod Stewart, Jackson Browne, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Wilco, Lou Reed, The Replacements, R.E.M., Cracker, Fleetwood Mac For anyone looking for something altogether different for their wedding, Los Huevos is the answer. See:
www.gigsalad.com/los_huevos
Children's Parties: Having a child has given me a window into the world if children's entertainment. As such I have developed a set with their little ears in mind. I play the standard children's fare and add songs by artists like the Beatles and John Denver just to name a few. To make the event fully interactive I provide shaky eggs, batons with ribbons, maracas and tambourine bells for maximum shaking and waving. They feel like they are totally part of the set. It's fun for the parents too. For children's parties I also play songs on the banjo and ukulele.
Marriage Proposals: This has become an interesting niche in the my mix of musical offerings. Since December 2012 I have been performing for marriage proposals. Thus far my clients have been gentlemen seeking a guitar player to perform 1 or 2 songs while they propose. Many have come from out of state to pop the big question at various romantic locales in New York City. I've also travelled as far as New Haven, CT to perform as well. If this is of interest I am happy to provide assistance in selecting a location. I also have a network of photographers that I can tap to assist in capturing the magic on film. A recent client also included videography for the event as well. All are available. Simply inquire with me. Most select one or two songs to be performed, one for the actual proposal, one for after. It's actually quite an honor to be present and a part of an incredibly intimate moment in a couple's life together. I'm proud to be able to offer this service. Additional instrumentation including mandolin, banjo, ukulele is available upon request. For a recent proposal the client opted to have the mandolin player from my band join in as the song he wanted featured the mandolin prominently. That client has asked that we travel to Florida to perform for his cocktail hour.
I am a fairly self contained act. All I require is a small area to set up in and a three pronged outlet. I do not require elaborate stage or lighting apparati. Recently I've been engaged for children's parties that have taken place in parks. This is fine too. These have been fairly small groups where the children were able to hear me just fine without amplification.
