I’m a piano player and singer with a vast repertoire, ranging from standards (Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald) and early rock & roll (Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis) to classic pop/rock/soul (The Beatles, Elton John) and contemporary pop/rock (Justin Timberlake, The Lumineers). I love taking requests, and I aim to bring joy to my audience.
I was the main “piano man” at the legendary Madison Avenue Pub in Toronto for 4 years, and I’ve been hired to play birthday parties, weddings and private concerts.
I also do many virtual events!
Mike was a true highlight of our evening—exceptionally talented, with an amazing voice and impressive piano skills. He was also incredibly accommodating with our song requests..creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. A perfect addition to any event, highly recommended for both skill and personality!

Mike fronted a band as the entertainment at our wedding. He had everyone dancing and singing all night. Years later people still bring up how great the band was. He was very professional to deal with and was an obvious pro on stage. He exceeded our expectations and we honestly couldn’t have asked for more.

Mike has performed about a dozen events for us and EVERY time, people rave about his talent, his professionalism, his musicianship, the range of genres and decades he is able to play, and his warm and engaging personality. My performance/service depends on the style of event, but the core remains the same: when you hire me, you'll get a high-quality musical experience involving solo piano and voice (or just solo piano). I will be dressed professionally, set up in a clean and inviting way, and I'll have a positive vibe. When I start playing, the music will inevitably make people want to tap their feet and possibly sing along. I will perform songs from a wide range of styles and eras. I will interact with the audience and make people feel good.
If the event calls for requests and sing-a-longs, then I will make the room feel like one big party and bring people together. If the event calls for more background style music, I will aim to make people enjoy the atmosphere.
I am flexible, affable, and professional. I can play several shorter sets, or one longer set. I can also be self-contained and come with my own sound system.
The joyous spirit of piano-pop singer-songwriter Mike Evin pulses through his music, uplifting and soulful. He’s earned a devoted following throughout North America and the UK, and among some of Canada’s most renowned musicians – like Barenaked Ladies and Ron Sexsmith.
Over the past 20 years, Evin's performed at venues ranging from living rooms and backyards to festivals and theatres. Born and raised in Montreal, now based in Toronto, he's independently released six albums and two EP’s. In addition to his career as a singer-songwriter, Evin has entertained all sorts of audiences playing covers and requests at piano bars, weddings and private events. He's also the piano player for legendary Toronto jazz band The Happy Pals (traditional New Orleans jazz), playing weekly at Grossman's when his schedule allows.
Evin studied classical and jazz piano growing up, and he also teaches songwriting and piano to youth in Toronto. CBC Music called Evin the “next big thing”, and the lead single from his fifth full-length album Life As A Lover, “Have I Ever Loved?”, was among theTop 20 most played songs of 2015 on Sirius XM’s CBC Sonica.“Al Green” reached #1 on Sirius XM’s The Verge.
It's preferable to have a sound system supplied for my sets, but I can also supply sound if need be.
Lighting is optional, but a bonus.
