I'm an experienced percussionist in multiple genres of music. I have over 40 years of experience playing pop, rock, gospel, jazz, latin, and traditional Irish music. My primary instruments are drum kit, congas, bongos, djembe and bodhran.
I am proficient playing in both live and studio settings. I have played in pit orchestras for over 20 musical theater productions.
I studied with renowned jazz musician Max Mariash (Art Van Damme Quintet) and Tom Hipskind (Broadway in Chicago, Columbia College faculty). I currently host the monthly Madcats Jazz Jam at Madcats in Palatine with my band - Mike's Jazz Crew.
I am available to sub in on gigs as needed and my jazz band is available for hire.
Mike has a very unique way to BLEND multiple musicians on any stage on SAME PAGE everytime. He is extremely talented with his drum solos, changing the tempo and keeping audiences on their TOES wanting MORE from him. The most special characteristic that Mike possesses. . . regardless of his STRONG drum skills . . . he is a VERY HUMBLE & TRUSTWORTHY individual which is VALUED and can be RARE in the music world now a days!!!
