I'm a NYC classically-trained virtuoso pianist who grew up in this area. I have decades of experience giving solo, ensemble, and private concerts as well as teaching private lessons, mainly classical, but I also like playing jazz, popular, Broadway, and alternative styles for fun. I would like to branch out and offer my services for special events, parties, weddings, etc. My sight-reading skills are highly advanced, so customizing a song list for your event is no problem. Monica Lee has performed as soloist and chamber musician throughout the world including: Austria, Hungary, Japan, Russia, Canada, and the United States (California, New York, Hawaii, Missouri, Texas, Florida, Michigan, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina). She has performed in masterclasses with Anton Kuerti, Emanuel Ax, Lee Kum-Sing, and had multiple coachings with Ani Kavafian, Leslie Parnas, and Silvian Iticovici.
Monica was born in Tennessee and began playing the piano at the age of four. After winning numerous state piano competitions and scholarships, she was admitted to the Interlochen Arts Academy at the age of fourteen. At the age of sixteen, she was accepted as an early decision student on full scholarship to the Saint Louis Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Jane Allen. After winning the conservatory competition, she made her orchestral debut playing as soloist at age eighteen with the Saint Louis Conservatory of Music orchestra. She continued her training with Nina Svetlanova at the Manhattan School of Music, where she received her Bachelor's Degree of Music, and received her Master's Degree of Music at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Additional studies have included Robert Weirich, Marc Silverman and William Wellborn.
