Mr. Enlightenment

Inviting Mr. Enlightenment back to his alma mater as part of our Alumni Reading Series turned out to be an excellent decision. His poems and the reading of them were engaging, and he really connected with the students, who talked about his event for a long time after. Highly recommend.

Mr. Enlightenment and I worked on a poetry walking tour together. You can put a check mark next to all the standard stuff, professional, motivated, eager to learn, research, study and willing to take extra time or meet with me to review ideas, plans, speeches for the project. The shiny bits are the personality, warmth, wisdom and welcoming energy he brought to the entire project. We discussed important poems from different moments in history and his own poetry. He brought strength, flair and awesome presentation to both. His performance of the poems was captivating and was highly entertaining to the audience. In the midst of historical poems, his personal work was revealing and was deeply concerned with the theme and ideas of the time periods we discussed. We are currently working together on another poetry project. He has been optimistic, forthright and engaging, but also strong enough to offer his own personal insights and suggest alternatives..
