About
My music is what you can real life music for the soul. I Call it “Soulfood rap”
My name is “Mazerati Payne”, I perform under the moniker “Mr. Payne” I’m from Mississippi, Meridian to be exact, home to alot of talented people some more recognized than others. Like David Ruffin, Big K.R.I.T, Al Wilson, Twysted Genius,Turntables Genius, B Angie B, Jimmie Rodgers, Moe Bandy both are county singers and a few blues legends so I guess it must be something in the water or just the thick air and humble country upbringing that makes it easier for music to imitate life
I love music and it’s so many other artist’s who music touch me and was apart of my life I can’t name them all but if they make or made real life music, I salute you. Talking about rappers though, the first time I remember hearing rap music and wanting to be like the guy rapping was when I first heard and saw L.L Cool J “I’m Bad” and “I need Love” on MTV around 1988. Here I was a kid looking like, I can be Bad and still have all the girls well not really since I wasn’t old enough for a girl but I just loved his style and what he brought to the game. Shout out to L.L Cool J for being the first rapper to break through the icon status of being lover and fighter at the same time. He was also one of the first to cross over and make rap appeal to the masses. Also I can’t leave out Tupac he was the rapper that I saw so much of myself in. Like I really related to everything he was dealing with. That’ was around the time he was really going through the up and down of being influential at a young age and having touched so many people with his music made me really want to pursue a career in music. So I studied by not only watching but actually putting myself through so much BS I could have avoided but I was really a young Thug Life pupil but that was then this is now, so I’m using my knowledge from my life experiences to touch someone in a positive way, even if the messenger up front and raw the message and meaning will give people a way to experience it without actually having to go through the act. So I guess L.L Cool and Tupac cause I’m a Lover and a fighter like them.
