I am a classically trained opera singer with a background in jazz and musical theater. I have designed my performances to switch genres with each song as to keep listeners actively engaged and to accommodate a wide variety of musical preferences. I have found this model quite successful in memory care units within retirement communities because the listeners are engaged with not only the music, but also discussions around each piece (including translations for pieces in different languages, plot synopsis, composer facts, and personal experiences with each piece).
