Mixing soaring harmonies with inventive acoustic jams, My Cousin Skinny brings energy, spontaneity and a great repertoire of songs to our live performances. We are seasoned musicians with 20 years of professional experience playing clubs, festivals, corporate events and weddings.
When it comes to your wedding, we can provide intimate acoustic ceremony music, contemporary hits, B-side gems, classic sing-alongs, and dance tunes. We don't take up much space, but can emulate a "full band" sound by incorporating percussion and guitar loops. We'll also do our best to learn several of your special song requests.
We have had them play at informal cocktail parties on two seperate occasions and we will probably have them back again. That says it all.
Excellent musicians, professional, easy to work with.
Universally good review from guest that attended
Response from My Cousin Skinny:
Thank you! We had a blast playing and are so glad you enjoyed it.

We put our own spin on cover songs from a variety of eras and genres, and aren’t afraid to let the energy of the performance shape where the music goes.
A normal set could have us jumping from Avett Brothers to the Allman Brothers, from Steely Dan to Simon and Garfunkel, from DMB to Daft Punk. In certain situations, we'll also throw some of our original songs -- and we appreciate when the audience is receptive to original material.
While we do play current and former Top-40 cover songs, we also gravitate towards songs that are seldom heard: B-side beauties and hidden gems that are great crowd-pleasers.
We know how to play to and for the crowd, no matter if it's a family-friendly outdoor event, a formal wedding or a late-night bar gig.
Mike Gloss and Jeff Simonton, cousins on their mommas' side, have been playing guitar together since they first picked up the instrument at ages ten and fourteen.
They cut their teeth on the local music scene around Harrisburg, PA, performing with a four piece band called Into The Woods. They were eventually picked up by a management company out of New York City run by music attorneys working for Arista Records. During that time, they won Relix Magazine’s “Jam Off” competition and had their original song “Send Your Blue Skies” pressed onto a compilation CD that distributed over 100,000 copies nationally
After six years performing up and down the east coast with Into The Woods, they eventually parted ways, moved south and started a new musical group based out of Raleigh, NC, known as Zegg.
After several years with the full band, Mike and Jeff have gone back to their roots, performing exclusively as an acoustic duo. They have worked hard to create an energetic and unique musical act that is sure to please music fans of all ages.
We are totally self-sufficient and have all the necessary sound and lighting equipment to perform. Plus, being that there is just two of us, we don't require that much space to set up.
