A bit of background about Nate…
Born Yewston Nathaniel Myers, IV in Columbus, Georgia, Nate Myers, IV grew up as a “military brat” and has lived in various places all over the world. Although he primarily grew up in the United States, it was in Weisbaden, Germany at the age of 12 that he began to play saxophone in a middle school band class. Nate also played the saxophone at church, playing only one note per song until his skill level increased. Over the next few years, Nate was very active in his high school marching and concert bands. While there, he discovered his potential as a professional saxophonist. The summer after his freshman year, he spent every day locked in his room practicing with his headphones on playing any CD that he could get his hands on. He credits his style of playing to a mixture of influences including saxophonists Kirk Whalum, Gerald Albright and Boney James, neo-soul artists Musiq Soulchild, and Floetry, and gospel artist Fred Hammond. Nate attended South Carolina State University as a Music Education major. He was a part of the Marching 101 Band. One of his most memorable performances was when he was chosen to play the National Anthem in front of thousands of football fans. He also became a member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He later attended Fort Valley State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Music. During his college years, Nate began his professional music career playing at churches, weddings, jazz clubs, banquets, concerts and private events.
