Naz's lyrical voice, inspired interpretations, and ability to relate to the audience shines through when she hits the stage. She is a multifaceted performer, musical arranger, and educator who is quickly gaining a following on the internet as well as in her adopted hometowns - Washington, D.C., Dallas, TX, and now her new home in Atlanta, GA.
Naz's unique and extensive experience in acting, musical theater, opera, jazz and pop/contemporary music has allowed her to share her passion for performance and singing with audiences from children to dignitaries, and from large stadiums and concert halls to intimate jazz clubs and recording studios. In 2005, Naz toured internationally as a featured jazz soloist with Jubilate, one of South Florida's highly acclaimed small vocal groups. She also toured regionally with Jubilate, performing in concerts with 10-time Grammy Award-winning singer Bobby McFerrin, Latin Grammy Award-winning flautist Nestor Torres, legendary actor/singers Clifton Davis and Harry Belafonte, and Metropolitan Opera soprano Marvis Martin. Additionally, Naz actively performs for charities, private events, and talent competitions throughout the nation.
Originally from New Albany, Indiana, Naz was an accomplished classically trained violinist and pianist before even beginning to sing in her teens. She went on to travel and perform both nationally and internationally with her local youth orchestra. She then began studying classical voice, leading to numerous competitions in both voice and violin throughout her secondary school years. In 1996, Naz began her professional singing career as a soprano soloist, while studying classical voice at the prestigious University of Miami’s Frost School of Music in Florida.
Naz went on to study jazz voice at the highly acclaimed University of North Texas College of Music and completed her Master's degree in Jazz Studies at Georgia State University. In addition to singing, she has also found success both on and off stage as an actress performing throughout the U.S. in TV commercials, films, industrials, voice overs, musicals, operettas, and regional theatre. Her stage performances have garnered reviews in The Washington Post, Potomac Stages, and (link hidden).
Naz's debut jazz album is set to release this summer, May 2014.
