Following in the tradition of Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers, NYJM boasts a roster of outstanding musicians who are well versed in many musical styles and are dedicated to mastery of instrument.

We are a private country club in Suffolk County and were doing a special dinner night in the restaurant for about 75 members. Milton and his group were wonderful! They arrived early, were set up to perform on time as promised, then proceeded to wow the members for the next 3 hours. The feedback from the members in the days since the dinner has been overwhelmingly positive, even from our beloved "critic" members. We will absolutely use NY Jazz Mission in the future. If they're available, don't hesitate to book this band. Talented and professional.

David, Jay, and Milton from new York Jazz Mission recently played at Mercy Center Ministries 30th Anniversary Party. We wanted nice jazzy back round music so they brought bass, drums and piano. I was surprised at how perfect the sound, tone, volume and tempo was. It was in a word PERFECT. There was an 11 year old boy at my table who was drumming to the beat the whole time, and the guests enjoyed it every bit as much. It was a forma event so we wanted upbeat jazzy and classy, and that is what NY Jazz Mission delivered. I know they can also diversify the music to suit other needs so we will be keeping them in minds for other events, and certainly recommend them highly!

We are a traditional Jazz trio playing American standards and hard bop in the style of Bill Evans Trio and Thelonious Monk. Primarily, we are piano, bass and drums.
The New York Jazz Mission, founded and lead by drummer/percussionist Milton Hernandez is the result of the desire to carry on the grand tradition of America's classical music, Jazz.
The band boasts the outstanding talents of bassist Alyssa Adamson and Jeff Hanness on piano operating primarily as a trio and based on the customer's need, will include additional instruments to suit the client's taste. Following in the tradition of Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers, NYJM is proud to offer a group of excellent musicians who are well versed in many musical styles and are dedicated to mastery of instrument.
Along with Art Blakey, they are proud to perform the music of Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Bill Evans, Charles Mingus and great American standards.
We only require power for an electric keyboard (if there is no piano on site) and for the amplifier for an upright bass.
