Next of Kin is a father/daughter-in-law music duo with members Alan and Lou Mickelson, who truly are "Next of Kin". They have been performing as a family band since 2014, Lou plays guitar and mandolin and Alan plays electric upright bass. Both share lead and harmony vocals. Tight harmonies, strong melodies, and memorable performances of acoustic, toe-tapping arrangements of always family-friendly Cover Classic Country Western tunes along with many other Cover Classic Favorites from the '20's to today. Songs from artists like Merle Haggard, Don Gibson, Linda Ronstadt, and Patsy Cline just to name a few. A "Feel Good" show bringing smiles and enjoyment to the young and young at heart.
We want to have another party just so we can have them back. Talented, fun and great music.

Lou Mickelson

Lou is the Inventory Control Assistant Manager with a major drug supply chain and enjoys leading church worship. Lou connected with music at a very young age, listening to her family's record collection through headphones while lying on the living room floor. She found her voice publicly in her early teens when she sang All I Have to Do is Dream at the local pizza parlor open mic night, singing in a small vocal group at church camp, and later the church choir. Taking an interest in her dad's beat up guitar, she began playing in high school, taking a lesson or two from her pastor. While attending L.A. Baptist College, she played with two different bands, Heavenbound and Two of a Kind. She is married to Alan's son, Marc and the couple have two daughters, a son, three dogs, and many fish. They reside in Silverton, OR.
