Noelle Bellydance

A bellydance performance is the most enjoyable and entertaining if it's a bit of a surprise, so when you hire me, I will do my best to ensure that I am discreet and quiet when arriving at your venue. I will bring my playlist on iPod or CD, along with my props (and if the event is a stagette or "ice breaker" I will also bring hip scarves for audience members to wear) so I will be ready to go as soon as I arrive. For a standard show, I usually begin with a high energy song and veil or wings, followed by another one or two up tempo songs and then a slower sword balancing piece. The sword song is usually followed by an energetic drum solo, then a closing song. Other props may include finger cymbals (zills), cane, or fan veils. I like getting guests up to dance, but if the client prefers a less interactive show, I can certainly accommodate that. The entire show is between 15 and 25 minutes, on average. My goal is to keep your guests smiling throughout :)

Noelle started learning bellydance (also known as raqs sharqi or oriental dance) in 2002 after being introduced to it through sword fighting. In 2006 she began performing at restaurants and parties, and has been doing so ever since. Through workshops and classes, she has studied under wonderful local dancers such as Sabeya, Lava, Simone LeBlanc (of the “Shimmy” TV show on Discovery Health), Danielle LeBlanc, Elizabeth Carefoot, Loulie Burns, Lynette Harper, and Angelina Thorne as well as internationally-renowned performers such as Suhaila Salimpour, Sadie, Ansuya, Rachel Brice, Jillina Sharon Kihara, Jim Boz, Ruby Beh, Malia, Estela, Amanda Rose, and Sera Solstice.

More recently, Noelle spent 7 months working with Ruby Beh in an intensive bellydance mentoring program and, in 2015 and 2016 respectively, she trained and certified in the challenging Level 1 of both the Suhaila and Jamila format through the Suhaila Salimpour School of Bellydance. Noelle is passionate about continuing to learn the culture and history of Middle Eastern dance and improving her skills.

I require a sound system that can accommodate a CD or iPod. I do not bring my own sound system.
It is ideal if lights can be lowered for the show.
