Now's the Time Jazz Ensemble offer's a range of jazz moods that we can adapt to your occasion. For dinner performances such as benefits or organizational affairs, we can play mellow swing to set a festive but relaxed mood. For evening performances, we specialize in uptempo hard bop and swing, with a smattering of blues, to get people moving in their seats. Some composers whose works we play are Lee Morgan, Hank Mobley, Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Jordan, and many other jazz giants. We usually play sets of about an hour, which we can adapt to the needs of the event. We don't usually chat much, apart from welcoming the crowd and announcing the various tunes. It's all about the music. We will need an electric source to plug in power strips for the keyboard and amplifiers, as well as a clear floor space, of course. Drop us a line; we look forward to working with you.
Most of Now's the Time has been playing together for well over ten years. We all live in the Pioneer Valley where we have performed in many different venues, including First Night Northampton, Bishop's Lounge, Gateway City Arts, The Wheelhouse at Hawk's and Reed, Luthier's Co-op, Cultural Chaos, and others. Our members are all professionals outside the music industry, yet we are dedicated to making jazz an important part of our lives, as well as part of the life of our community. We are easy-going and happy to adapt our repertoire to meet the needs of an event. In the cover photo we are performing at a holiday craft fair in Easthampton. We have also performed annually at fundraisers for the Massachusetts Alzheimer's Foundation. We look forward to meeting you!
We always need electricity to plug in keyboard and amps. If you are a small venue, we only need a mike for the clarinet. Larger venues will need mikes for all three horns.
