Paddy Lad is a one-man cover band performing Pop, Rock, and Dance medleys with a Celtic flavour. His style of music is influenced by his upbringing in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. Armed with his Little Martin acoustic guitar, kick drum, bodhran and playful kazoo, Paddy Lad creatively crafts ensembles and mashups by fluidly combining genres, rhythms and tempos. Every medley gets a dance beat! By modernizing traditional folk music, he creates a contemporary, high energy sound that will keep those toes tapping.
Paddy was absolutely brilliant, he arrived early to set up, he was polite, helpful and fun! He even went the extra mile to learn my dad’s favourite song. I would for sure hire him again for our next party!

Hodgie's musical interests began when his friend introduced him to the drums. He immediately took a liking to percussion and learned to play through self-taught lessons. When he happened upon an open mic jam at Swigs Pub in Calgary, Hodgie seized the opportunity to play on stage as a drummer. Since then, Hodgie also took an interest in the acoustic guitar and spent his time learning both skins and strings.
He began his professional career in the music industry as an Events Coordinator for Blind Beggar Pub in Calgary ((phone number hidden)6), and as the drummer for the grunge/metal band, 22x ((phone number hidden)5). However, his career truly flourished once he founded the Celtic band, Nova Scotiables ((phone number hidden)2), originally called Hodgie and The Barbarians. He realized his strength as a frontman and assumed the role of rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist. A few short months after their creation, Nova Scotiables scored their first paying gig at the David Thompson East Coast Kitchen Party Festival in 2015. Since then, they have provided high energy musical entertainment for pubs, festivals, weddings, and many other events. Hodgie’s favourite gig with Nova Scotiables was playing the half-time shows for the Lacrosse Team, Calgary Roughnecks.
In 2018, Hodgie accepted an invitation to drum for The Navigators on their spring tour in Alberta, and on their summer tour in Newfoundland. This inspiring yet challenging experience allowed him to advance his skills as a percussionist. In 2019, Hodgie took to percussion once again as the drummer, as well as a lead singer, in Nova Scotiables' album, "We're Gonna Need a Bigger Boat.”
Paddy Lad comes complete with his own PA and Lights. If you have a stage or stage area, it would need to be a minimum of 8'x4' to fit him and his equipment. Two seperate circuits of power are preferred but not necessary. Additional lighting at your discretion as he will only have enough to see him (if you want dance floor party lights, etc.)
