Pam Saulsby: Journalist. Author. Vocalist. Public Speaker. Emcee
Pam Saulsby is working to firmly establish herself as one of the most acclaimed entertainers in jazz in the Triangle. Her powerfully expressive voice and her soulful, sophisticated and uplifting energy is coming through even though she has only released 2 albums.
Adding to her vocal talents, Pam’s beautiful smile and on-stage rapport combines confidence, sincerity and a touch of sass, confirming her as an all-around beguiling performer to audiences in North Carolina and beyond.
Her 2010 debut CD release, “The Full Measure of a Woman”, won considerable attention from audiences and critics in local community. Pam was honored to have her music put in rotation at Raleigh, NC’s number one station for jazz: WSHA 88.9 FM.
This set the stage for her latest release, “Holding It Down.” It is a “concept” album dedicated to military members and their families. A slight departure from her prior recordings, this creative triumph continues to establish Pam as a performer transcending genre boundaries.
Pam considers “Holding It Down” a playlist for the troops. Each song was carefully selected by Pam to show thanks and appreciation for sacrifices made. Some of the songs are covers and others are originals. There’s even a hip-hop song included, as well as the title song that Pam wrote herself!
A portion of the proceeds from Holding It Down, are being donated to the Fisher House at Fort Bragg, NC. The Fisher House is a home away from home for military members and their families who are being treated at Womack Army Medical Center.
Growing up in a spiritual and musical family, Pam was born at Fort Banning, Georgia. Her parents say she was singing before she could talk. Pam did sing in the children’s choir at her church. However Pam did not immerse herself in music. The truth is, she was extremely shy as a young girl. Pam sang in choirs in school, but her study in higher education focused on her speaking voice. She studied broadcast journalism at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Since graduating from Florida with a B.S. Degree in Broadcast Journalism, Pam has launched a successful journalism career. She has won 3 Emmy awards. Pam considers herself musically, a late bloomer. However she is making all the right moves to make a mark on every stage she graces.
There are MP3 Files of Pam’s tunes available on request as well as a music video of her song “Welcome Home.”
