I had two make up trials prior ...
1) Asian make up artist, who does Asian brides in KC. She made me look like a SheMale from Thailand. And I am not kidding. I have a pic to prove it. In fact, some people were checking out the presence or absence of my Adam's Apple.
2) Another make up artist from California who was willing to come to my wedding do my make up, because she had family in Kansas City. Instead of making me look like me, she basically made up my face to her "signature makeup style"..

And once upon a time, I met this beautiful girl named Annelene of Paramour Makeup from a friend (an actress) who referred me to her.
1) She's this gorgeous American blond girl who totally GETS Asian faces, with their asian eyelids, and etc....
I had even given her specialized Asian Eyelashes (only sold in California and Japan) , and within in Minutes, she knew how they worked.
2) She IS EXTREMELY versatile.... she will make your face up, to your style, but like a Red Carpet version of it. I looked like me, but a best version of me. She can do extensions (which she did on me), she can perfectly coiffed my hair in the tricky Asian hat, I can go on and on.
Basically, for weddings or special events-- i think it's best to find someone who can do BOTH HAIR /MAKEUP ( which arent' that many around in KC) and also who can come On-Site (which arent' many around in KC), and in addition, she is very VERY good listener. There are some make up artists who are like Nazis and insist you do your hair or your make up in a certain way... but ONLY YOU know HOW you want to LOOK..
and Annelene WILL GET YOU THERE!!

I’ve done makeup for weddings, photo shoots, music videos and special events.
Even after working with all of those people and all of those faces, my most important makeup memory is practicing on my mother when I was a young child.
My mom was my first–and best–guinea pig. I first learned what beauty makeup really is while making up her face.
Great makeup isn’t about trying to duplicate the over-the-top, fashion “Glamazon” face you see on a Paris runway or in a shiny fashion magazine. Great makeup transforms you into the radiant, elegant, gorgeous person you truly are–and it can do that no matter what you’re wearing or doing.
My beauty clients don’t walk away looking like a lousy copy of someone else–they retain their individual beauty and personality.
I love working with all different appearances, skin types, face shapes and ethnicities. Makeup is amazing. You can use the same color definition (i.e. smoky eyes, nude lips and rouged cheeks) on a thousand different people and you’ll create a thousand different looks. We’re all so unique.
The mark of a good makeup artist is understanding the right techniques to create the perfect look for each individual. That’s what I strive to do on every job.
That requires more than technical proficiency and the right tools. It requires artistry, creativity and a willingness to really listen to people–to understand what they need to look and feel their best.
