I am a Christian comedian for Senior Citizens, Sunday morning congregations, families and teenagers. I also perform at birthday parties, banquet, camps, schools and grad nights.

Some of the things that have shared in talks, sermons what have you, but I heard at Redwood Christian Park by Santa Cruz and at church in Anyioch CA in the 70s have stayed with me like no other minister evangelist or speaker ever shared. I don’t remember the laughter although there was plenty, I remember the message and it still anchors my life.

I just googled your name and was pleasantly surprised to find you. I know you from the 70’s when I was in Highschool. You spoke at my church, COS in Wayne PA. Alan Hlavka was our youth leader at the time and he had a great impact on my life. You were very gifted in sharing the word with the youth and as a result, you have a special place in the early chapters of my life. Thank you for being faithful.

I just was going through a (very) old box of keepsakes back in the mid 80s. I came across two letters you responded to me from letters I had written to you about advice about a guy. I'm very impressed you took the time (twice!!) to write to a lovesick teen. I think back then you were mainly doing gigs at teen/youth conferences, so what a shock to the system to see you now are speaking to senior citizens. Time flies. I wish you every success. (By the way the date I entered for the event was an approximate date, but pretty sure it was a Christmas event at the Hilton in Eugene, Oregon in the year 84 or 85).
We were just reminiscing about junior high in '92-'93 and how much we loved your performance in Royal Oak, Michigan. I still have the cassette tape! Ha ha

Our Mothers Of Preschoolers (MOPS) group hosted a Mops and Pops date night. Being a non-profit christian group we wanted something clean yet funny. Pat Hurley hit the nail on the head! Pat Hurley did a Christian comedy program at our October luncheon for our seniors at Canyon Lake Church and everybody loved him! As a humorist, he kept everyone laughing, but he also left us with a Biblical message at the end. He interacted with the audience in a caring and teasing way that left us laughing at ourselves. Pat quickly sized us up as being a conservative audience but still very active and fun-loving as older people. His illustrations, clean humor and aging insights were perfectly tailored to our interests. Pat Hurley has entertained young people and their parents for over 40 years but he perfect for our event. I highly recommend him!
I wanted some sort of entertainment for my party; something funny, but tasteful. These days, so many entertainers use coarse language or sexual innuendo's that I find offense and insulting to my intelligence; so I was on the hunt for good clean fun! I found it when Pat Hurley came to my party! Pat is a "natural" when it comes to people. He has a knack for putting everyone at ease, while being charming and funny. On August 14, 2012, I will celebrate 20 years of ordained Christian ministry.
Back in 1979, I was a junior at Tigard High School (Tigard, Oregon). My parents had juat moved AGAIN (and we moved about every 10 minutes when I was a kid). This time, we moved across the country. I was living in a strange state, far from home, extended family, and friends. I was angry and depressed.
Then Pat Hurley came to speak at my high school. He was funny and he really seemed to understand what I was going through (even though I wasn't brave enough to meet him personally). He would be speaking again, that night, at a local church. I BEGGED my parents to let me go. They said they didn't want me to become a religious nut. Besides (they argued) THAT church was probably a cult. I didn't get to go back to hear him speak, but I kept after my parents day and night until they let me go to that church's youth group.
In time, I committed my life to Christ. I spent 5 years at Northwest Christian College and then went to seminary. Now, it's 20 years later. I have a youth group that I lead. In all that time, I have never forgotten Pat Hurley or his ministry to me, at a really rough transitional time in my life. Thanks to Pat, I am the religious nut my parents feared! :0)
Kids still struggle today. They hide it from their friends and family. Perhaps their problems just explode in fits of anger at odd times against all the wrong people. Kids need Jesus Christ, even if they have no clue that they do. Jesus (and all church) can be pretty intimidating. Pat Hurley makes it fun and opens the doors to kids' hearts.
I highly recommend him to any ministry or any setting where folks could use a good laugh from a really decent guy!
