We play Traditional New Orleans Jazz and small jazz combo music.
I booked the Perdido Jazz Band for our installatino banquet. They were great. I wanted traditional New Orleans Jazz and they provided just that. It was perfect.
I hired the Perdido Jazz Band for a Dirty Thirty Birthday second line parade, and they were beyond perfect! They really brought the crowd and our parade to life! Jim was a pleasure to work with and was very professional. We had an absolute blast thanks to this fun band!
Response from Perdido Jazz Band:
We had a great time Jenny! Thanks again so much for having us. We very much appreciate your kind words. Hope to see the Krewe of the Dirty Thirties soon!

Perdido Jazz Band's goal is simple: to make your event, party, wedding, bachelor or bachelor-ette party be what you dream it should be.
We always strive to make your event as stress-free for you as possible. We do that by showing up on-time ready to deliver high-quality music. We love to play acoustically (no amplification/electricity required), and we don't mind playing quietly should your event require "background" music. But we do have a great sounding PA if the event needs it. If you want us to be front and center--we would be honored.
Usually we can honor specific song requests, but we do ask that they be provided in a week in advance of the event. See our set list information.
Also, should you want more/less instrumentation, we can usually arrange for that as long as we have notice. Our standard 5-piece is always what we recommend.
Wedding? Be sure to inquire about processional/recessional/seating music too. While our trumpet player can play virtually any of the standard classical wedding repertoire accompanied by organ or piano, the band really enjoys playing ceremonies--and having the Perdido Jazz Band play as you walk own the aisle definitely makes for beautiful uniquely-New Orleanian memories.
We prefer to operate through executed contracts/invoices, which can be reviewed, signed and emailed.
The history of jazz on Perdido Street runs deep--the Eagle Saloon, the Funky Butt, Buddy Bolden, and Louis Armstrong.
After Katrina, our trumpet player Jim Thornton lived on Perdido for many years.
Perdido Jazz Band pays tribute to all the early jazzmen of New Orleans.
We prefer to play acoustically. For events with expected attendance over 150, we usually suggest having a PA available with 6 lines in.
We also appreciate 4 chairs for indoor gigs.
Note also, for any second line, a permit and police escort is required. To get that process started, go to (link hidden)
