I am versatile and virtuosic pianist/singer, adept in jazz, blues and pop, with 35 years of professional experience. I am available as a solo pianist for many kinds of events, having played private parties, weddings, club gigs, and restaurants. I also lead an accesible jazz quartet as well as a blues rock quartet, either of which is available for larger events. I'm an experienced accompanist for singers, choral groups and theatrical productions as well.

Peter Brown played and sang for our cocktail party last night and he was amazing! He was punctual and even brought his own equipment when told the piano at our location may not be tuned. He played a variety of music and everyone loved him! He played for the entirety of our agreed upon time and only took a few short breaks. He was warm and genuine and certainly made our party come alive.

I hired Peter for a studio session where I sang to his beautiful playing. First of all, he's so easy to get in touch with and replies really fast. You can tell he's been playing piano for a long time because he is so at ease with it and you can also hear it in his playing.
Peter was willing to set a time for practice apart from our booked session on GigSalad. He also made sure to understand exactly what my vision was, practiced on his side, shared his thoughts, comments, questions, etc. It was an absolute great team work and I had so much fun in the process. The Rockerfellas gave an exciting performance on July 4th at Artfest Kingston as part of our tribute to our “friends across the water”. They played a great selection of songs by U.S. bands and did them all justice. We would recommend this band to anyone who is looking for a highly entertaining band who can perform a wide range of music.

Lanark-based jazz and blues pianist/singer Peter Brown has performed at the Ottawa jazz festival nine years running. He has toured with Canadian blues legend Dutch Mason, American blues artist Sherman Robertson and with former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor, and was the keyboardist for Mumbo Jumbo Voodoo Combo for 17 years. For many years, he has served as pianist/bandleader/arranger for the Mississippi Mudds theatre company in Carleton Place, accompanist for the Townsingers of Carleton Place and as pianist for the Stone Fence Theatre Company in Eganville. His Peter Brown Quartet hosts a very popular monthly jazz night in Carleton Place. He has released three jazz CDs under his own name, Marie-claude, in 2002, Franklin Street in 2008, and Beautiful Love in 2014, as well recording with many other artists.
I can bring my own digital piano, amplification and microphone if the client requires, or use a piano and PA system that's provided - this would be something to work out during the booking discussion.
If requested, I can also supply suitable recorded music to play during my breaks.

This varies with the type of event. When I play solo piano, I tend to play a lot of standards from the Great American Songbook (Gerswhin, Porter, Rogers and Hart, etc.) interspersed with some rock standards, some 50s classics and some of my own originals.
I've been influenced by hundreds of performers from Louis Armstrong, The Beatles, The Band, the great Chicago blues artists, the great swing and modern jazz musicians, great songwriters from Gershwin to Dylan.
