Hey! My name is Porter Matteson. I'm a pianist from Seattle, WA who transplanted to Philly a couple months ago. I'm classically trained but also have a lot of experience in jazz, musical theater, and pop. I played many gigs as a pianist in jazz groups, churches, cabarets, etc. in the Seattle area and have had my own compositions performed with youth orchestras and chamber ensembles. I am excited to work with you! Whether it's a private gathering with folk and Top 40, or a wedding with classical music, or a restaurant or bar with jazz or soul, I offer you tons of versatility and flexibility! I also love collaboration and would love to work as a pianist as part of a larger group, like a band.

I have known Porter since he was a little boy. As a young man, he brings his childlike joy and enthusiasm to his life and music, whether playing or composing. He played hymns for his Sunday School with sensitivity and attention to the singers. A recent youth symphony concert featured a movement of a piano concerto he composed, played beautifully by his brother. The music was rhythmic, melodic and energetic. The performance made me want to hear the whole piece played by a major orchestral . He has the makings of a major composer and a bright future.
