John’s aha moment came early in his Air Force career when he received feedback that his leadership style under pressure was similar to someone opening a coke can after it was shaken. When times get tough, we tend to revert psychologically to a childlike or a parental state. During these times we overuse our leadership strengths and either give-in to others or dig-in and demand our way.
An amazing thing happens when we learn how to lead yourself instead of your emotions taking over. Things run more smoothly, ideas are brought to light, and we become better leaders who get the most from ourselves and others.
If there was six stars to choose I would have.
Price Range: $1,500 - $3,500
Gig Length: 30 - 120 minutes
John works with leaders who want to bring out the best in themselves and others when the pressure is on and stakes are high. He has been called a Catalyst for Courage and an Inspiration for Change due to his interactive and thought provoking presentations.
After receiving some tough feedback from a senior leader, John began a journey to understand what caused him to misuse his talents as a leader. The discoveries he made were not easy to accept. Instead of giving up John rolled up his sleeves and learned to overcome autopilot responses that caused him to slip, trip and fall.
Less than four years later while serving in the Air Force, he was awarded the prestigious Lance P. Sijan Leadership Award from the Air Education and Training Command. Knowing how the encouragement and support of others played an integral part in this award, John became a student of self leadership. He is living proof that learning to lead yourself is the fastest way to earn the right to lead others.
His presentations are perfect for new supervisors, young professionals or leaders who are required to:
- Adapt to new roles
- Inspire commitment
- Build cohesive teams
- Execute successful change
Like you, John Bentley has experienced the ups and downs of life. One moment you are on cloud nine, at other times you become confused not quiet sure of where to turn next. Through it all John has come to understand that leading yourself is the key to solving the problems that will occur in your life.
John’s aha moment came early in his Air Force career when he received feedback that his leadership style under pressure was similar to someone opening a coke can after it was shaken. This led him on a journey to discover why he behaved poorly in tough situations. The findings John uncovered were not easy to accept, but he possessed the desire to learn and willingness to overcome limiting beliefs that caused him to spiral out of control.
After he retired from the Air Force, John founded Power 2 Transform. Since 2003 his sole focus is on teaching people how to master the art of self-leadership especially when faced with adversity. His goal whether speaking, coaching or training is always the same – equipping people to leverage their strengths and mitigate their limitations so they can be more effective for themselves and others.
To date John has delivered hundred of presentations for over 25,000 people. Some of his satisfied customers include the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Navy, Northeast Georgia Health System, Cullman Regional Medical Center, Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, UAB Cancer Center, and numerous state associations.
John has received several industry awards to include the Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce Order of Merit and the Air Education and Training Command Lance P. Sijan Leadership Award. Additionally, he has authored several articles and is featured in the book “Speaking of Success”. In this book, John shares his own 5 Enablers of Success along with other business experts such as Ken Blanchard (The One-Minute Manager), Jack Canfield (Chicken Soup for the Soul), and Stephen Covey (The 7 Habits of Highly Successful People).
