Professor Swandini's Traveling Medicine show

Long before television and radio commercials beckoned to potential buyers, the medicine show provided free entertainment and promised cures for everything from corns to cancer. Combining elements of the circus, theater, vaudeville, and good old-fashioned entrepreneurship, the showmen of the American medicine show sold tonics, ointments, pills, extracts and a host of other "wonder-cures," guaranteed to "cure what ails you." While the cures were seldom miraculous, the medicine show was an important part of American culture and of performance history. Harry Houdini, Buster Keaton, and P.T. Barnum all took a turn upon the medicine show stage.

Scott Swan has developed a fun and magical show filled with audience participation that takes you back in time and performs his version of an early 19th century medicine show. Presented as a historical tour of sorts, Scott’s show recreates much of the finer magic tricks and snake oil pitch presentations that graced that time. Scott has painstakingly reproduced some of the tricks and pitches that had only existed as documentations and in books from that era. This is a magic show that is presented as a medicine show. All of this is wrapped in a wonderful presentation that Will be great for Schools,museums,festivals and fairs as part of history lesson. This is a family friendly show for all ages.
