We provide the best Brazillian music in San Diego Area. We are well know for our mix between Bossa Nova, Reggae and Brazilian music!!
Rafael performed for our wedding. The music was excellent and was exactly what I was looking for, relaxed but fun and lively. Rafael said he would send a set list before the wedding but never did, making music planning difficult. Rafael himself also went missing during our ceremony, so they weren't able to play recessional music at the end of the ceremony. This was an embarrassing mishap and he didn't seem to care or take accountability for it afterward.
Response from Rafa Pondé and the Brazilian Reggae Experience:
Diego you had a month in advance to call me to discuss the music but you only called me the day before the event. Also I did exactly what we agreed( three 40min sets) , with 15 min intervals and I have proof of what we agreed. Also I just followed the instructions of your event organizer while I was there, she called all the shoots . So how can you say that I went missing during your event? You didn’t even greet us while we were in your party. You should be more kind and grateful for the people that do good work for you.
Rafael did an amazing job setting the vibe for our intimate anniversary get together. He was punctual, very pleasant and easy to communicate with.
I definitely recommend him for a beautiful laid back evening.
His voice is amazing!
Response from Rafa Pondé and the Brazilian Reggae Experience:
Thanks Diana ! We really enjoyed been there!!
The two guys were very good! But never heard of a band that plays for 40min then takes a 40min break. We had people leaving who thought they were done playing
Response from Rafa Pondé and the Brazilian Reggae Experience:
Hi Richard you knew about the breaks since the beginning nobody plays 3 hours and a half straight without breaks. And you forgot to mention in the review that after you asked me in the first break The next 2 sets were ( 2h sets) instead of 40min sets and the breaks after you asked was just 15min. The next time try to be there because you left the party while we were playing the second set. Also there was a very rude and unkind drunk gentleman there who treat us very bad, after the first set. I will never play there again
On Saturday we celebrated my daughter's marriage and the 30th birthday of her husband. It was a warm, sunny day on the beach. Rafael and his band provided us with beautiful music to fill our hearts and souls with love, peace and unity. I highly recommend this band as they will not disappoint!
Response from Rafa Pondé and the Brazilian Reggae Experience:

The artist, who lists five CDs and the documentary “O novíssimo baiano" (2011) in his discography, is representative of the new generation of artists who make music without labels and categories. Influences range from Bossa Nova, Samba Exaltation and beyond, through Afoxé, to the closely related culture of Reggae - which in Bahia merged with Samba, known as Samba Reggae. It's all part of his work, which is also characterized by activism around the dissemination of Bahian Afro culture.
As a child, Rafael Pondé did not understand why Maria, his grandmother, lovingly kept a trunk next to the closet. At age 11, with the death of his grandmother, he inherited this trunk and found that it was a musical message: an accordion, which she had played in youth. Rafa never learned to play it, but got the message... In adolescence he chose the guitar, and started to express the flow of the lyrics that appeared in his mind. On joining the School of Management UFBA, he formed with colleagues The Diamba Band, with which he toured the country from 1996 to 2002. Rafael's musical heritage was founded in a previous generation, by his great-uncle Humberto Porto, composer of the radio era, who wrote of the African-Bahian culture in songs as "Na Bahia" and "História de amor". Humberto's works were recorded in the '30s by Carmen Miranda, Dalva de Oliveira, Orlando Silva, Chico Alves, among other great interpreters of the time. He was also a pioneer in the genre known as Lamento, and had written the carnival hit "A Jardineira", its greatest success. This song has been covered by Rafa in the album, "Afrika Bahia."
