Based on your need and expectation, I can play solo or cater high-quality live duo/trio/ensemble sets for Baithak (saloon) events, weddings, corporate events, private functions, parties, lecture demonstrations, and various other events. Mir Naqibul Islam is a highly sought after tabla player based in New York. He has been studying tabla for 28+ years and performing professionally for 16+years. Mir has trained in the traditional guru-shisya style of Indian Classical music from Pt. Ashoke Paul, disciple of the great tabla guru Pt. Jnan Prakash Ghosh. He performs regularly with musicians from a wide variety of other genres, bringing tabla to Jazz, Middle-Eastern music and other contexts. By listening, learning and playing with musicians from around the globe, Mir is developing a unique musical aesthetic bringing together the musical influences of traditional Farukhabad style tabla and 21st century New York. Mir has studied with Pt. Gopal Mishra and Pt. Suresh Talwalkar in past and continuing his talim with the great Farukhabad Grand Master Pt Anindo Chatterjee and Pt. Ashoke Paul.
Indoor Events: Please ensure a 8ft x 4ft platform or a clean rug for two performers at indoor events. Seating is required during performances.
Outdoor Events: For outdoor events, a 8ft x 4ft platform and overhead sun cover must be provided by the client or event planner to protect our instruments. We regret that if outdoor conditions do not meet these requirements, we cannot perform, and refunds will not be issued.
Equipment Rental: The microphones, stand, speakers etc. are available for rent separately
