Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Rebecca began studying the violin at the age of three at the Suzuki School of Music with Karen Langille of Symphony Nova Scotia. Even at such a young age, Rebecca immediately had a love and passion for the instrument. When Rebecca was four years old she moved to Moncton, New Brunswick and continued her violin studies with Margaret Wood where she soon became a competitive violinist and at the age of ten became a member of the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra for eight years. Four consecutive years she was the concert master of the NBYO.
Soon after, Rebecca became a member of Symphony New Brunswick and the Prince Edward Island Symphony Orchestra. At the age of fourteen, Rebecca began travelling from Moncton, NB to Halifax, NS to continue her violin studies with world renowned violinist Philippe Djokic; professor of Dalhousie University. She also studied with Anne Rapson while in Halifax. In 2000 Rebecca became a violin performance student at Dalhousie University with Professor Philippe Djokic. During those years at Dalhousie she became a professional member of Nova Scotia Symphony and Concert Master of the Dalhousie University Orchestra. Rebecca has been a featured soloist with the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra, Symphony New Brunswick and the Dalhousie University Orchestra.
Rebecca has competed in numerous competitive music festivals and has won many awards such as Provincial Champion at the New Brunswick Music Festival and continued from there to compete at the Canadian National Music Festival. Rebecca has also competed and placed runner-up in the Nova Scotia Kiwanis Music Festival Finals in Halifax, NS. Rebecca enjoys spending many of her summers at La Domaine Forget & The Orford Arts Centre where she studied with and had master classes with many prestigious violinists some of which include: Claude Richard, Andre Azaar, Victor Danchenko, Rgis Pasquier & Jean-Luc Plourde.
Before moving to Timmins, Ontario, Rebecca lived in London, England for five years where she was a violinist in several orchestras including the Richmond Symphony and concert master of the London Charity Orchestra.
Rebecca is currently the Principal Second violinist of the Timmins Symphony and second violinist of the Xstrata Copper String Quartet. Rebecca is also a violinist in the Sudbury Symphony and the North Bay symphony. Miss Jones currently teaches private and group violin lessons at the Geoffrey James Lee School of Music in Timmins, Ontario.
