Red Maiden is best known for her soulful Hip-Hop music style, showcased on multiple stages throughout the country and currently resides in Atlanta, GA. Born Stephanie Michele Jones, the Columbus, Ohio native began her career as a battle rapper under the name MC Deuce, regularly opening up for major Hip Hop acts who performed in her birthplace. After leaving Columbus to play college basketball and to study Business Marketing at The University of Akron, LeBron James' hometown, Stephanie Michele's life changed when she experienced date rape during her sophomore year. As a sexual assault survivor, Stephanie relocated back to her hometown and began channeling her story and her healing into her music. Finding her home in a local studio created inside of a community center, she learned how to produce and record music with the guidance of her dear friend, Parrish Monk. There, Stephanie Michele recorded over 70 original songs and college radio stations throughout the state began to play her music.
Stephanie Michele evolved into “Red Maiden” when one of her male besties insisted she take on a name which embodied respect, sexiness and rhythm. Without question, Red held onto her new name, which gave her the courage to rise above her painful past and seemingly insurmountable personal and professional odds.
Although family ties originally drew her to Atlanta, GA, Red found professional opportunity in the Music Mecca. Shortly after her arrival, Red Maiden found herself under the umbrella of The Dungeon Family, who introduced her to the true meaning of hustle & grind. Rico Wade along with other family members, believed in her talent, drive, heart, and intelligence, pushing her to continue making a way for herself. Red has learned about superior sound under the roof of Patchwerk Recording Studios, has worked with Grammy award winning engineers Leslie Braithwaite and Sean “ShyBoy” Davis, recorded, produced video projects and collaborated with performing artists such as the late MC Breed, Drumma Boy, T.I., Yung Dro, Big Gipp, Future & Da Connect, Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Nicki Gilbert, and former En Vogue member, Maxine Jones. Red Maiden also has her hands in the film industry as an editor, film scorer, and producer, who has worked with talents such as Common, Boyz II Men, The Nappy Roots, John Legend and many more. Importantly, Red Maiden has dedicated a large part of her life and heart to working with At-Risk-Youth thru public speaking and preventive health education.
Currently, Red Maiden is pushing her new single, “This Is Real,” which will be released early November 2014. Learn more about Red Maiden and listen to music from her first album, “The Outdustry Standard,” as well as sample new songs due to be on her sophomore album, “Billions.”
