There isn't a gig we play that someone walks up and says 'Man! I can't believe you played that song...I love that song!'
The energy is always high with us and we understand that people are there to see live music to unwind and have fun. Description
The members:
Rene Guerrero - guitar, vocals, alternative historian
Dallas-reared Rene has been an alterna-art bon vivant most of his life, manifested today as a published author, a skilled carpenter and sculptor, and a free-lance video producer/director (not necessarily in that order, but ask him tomorrow; the order may be correct then). His obsession with ‘80s pop bloomed as guitarist for the actual 1980s synth rock band The Love Remote, then marinated in ensuing years as other serious interests (writing, goils, photography, TV production, goils) took hold. To Rene, Replicant is a return to his nascent form – kind of like Sean Young with unbridled hair and wearing nothing but white silk even though underneath, there’s all sorts of sin itching to get out.
Todd Petersen - lead vocals, horn, mike/reality checks
Though Todd has music in his blood – his dad is noted jazz artist Pete Petersen (he of The Collection) – Todd’s tastes have always been a bit off the beaten path ... music tastes, people. Music tastes. Anyway, he’s performed in church groups and jazz ensembles, on cruise ships, and in the odd club, and Replicant is his return to doing what he’s pretty much done all his life: sing classics in front of people. He’s excited. No, really: he cannot WAIT to see Katy Perry in Blade Runner 2.
Mike Daniel - bass guitar, town crying
As the band’s token non-Texan, military brat Mike learned about formative synth-pop as a teen in West Germany before the stuff even made it to America, then turned into a self-taught axe-tickling headbanger whose proudest moments were playing Joe Satriani songs in front of his grandma and NOT doing drugs as a cover-band guitarist in late-1980s El Paso. He got the call to “go low” and switched to bass, then was a big-time rock journalist whose proudest moments were playing poker with Chris Cornell and winning a belching contest with Frank Black. Now he just thumps along, wondering what would happen if he tested himself with a Voight-Kampff device and really wanting glasses just like the ones Dr. Eldon Tyrell had.
Mike Grabeel - drums, vocals, carpeting
Mike’s an Irving native who beat the crap out of any and every high-school percussionist who got in his way of earning a mess of high-school drumming honors. The dude even battled the late jazz great Louie Bellson on stage. (No, wait: he didn’t beat the crap out of Louie. But he could have.) Since then he’s played in pit orchestras for musicals and enjoyed a stint as a timpanist for a local symphony as well as performed as a studio musician and with numerous rock and jazz acts – and, late last year, he begrudgingly came to accept that Daryl Hannah did not do her own stunts as Pris.
We need power...that's it.
