RetroActive is an exciting band playing the hits of the 60's, 70's, & 80's! There are 5 musicians in the group - all of whom sing. The result is great harmonies to go along with 2 electric guitars, keyboard, bass & drums! If our audience isn't on the dance floor dancing, they are for sure singing along with the songs we all grew up with.

Bob Johnson sings and plays rhythm guitar and keyboard. In addition to playing guitar, keyboard, and drums with several bands during the last several decades, Bob was a recording engineer in a major downtown recording studio. He was fortunate enough to work with some of the best studio musicians in Chicago and several major touring acts such as: Foreigner, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, & The Atlanta Rhythm Section. Bob picked up most of what he knows about music from these players. He is very happy to be playing with RetroActive!
Tom Spisak sings and plays lead guitar and harmonica.I have been playing guitar for 35 years I studied electric guitar and classical when I was younger. Over the years I have played in many different type bands. The most notable was a hard rock band called Sin City. We toured around the Midwest area doing different kinds of venues for about 5 years. I then worked in a band called Hot Rocks which was a Rolling Stones tribute band. I hand been singing for about 10 years. This band Retroactive has been the most active vocal band I have been in. Having 5 members all singing lead and back up vocals has allowed us to do many band covers most bands can not do.
to have fun entertaining people with many of the same great songs today.
Drew O'Connor is the drummer for RetroActive. Starting on drums in the grammer school band, Drew grew up on Rock & Roll. During High School he started a band and played till taking a break from music to serve 4 years in the U.S. Air Force. Upon completion of his service, he pursued a formal music education studying at UIC, Chicago Conservatory College of Music, DePaul, and graduating with a B.A. in Music Ed from Northeastern Illinois University. Though most of the education involved playing classical music, he has always loved Rock & Roll. He has played in several bands over the years and is excited to be part of RetroActive.
Scott Kappmeyer sings and plays the keyboard!
Ray Hubert is our bass player and backing vocals.
We provide our own sound system and a limited lighting system.
