A singer, acoustic guitar player, and entertainer who performs a variety of current and dated eclectic pop, country and classic rock music. Chances are you've heard every song I do. I perform weekly at corporate franchise restaurants; in addition, I am available for Singing Telegrams and private parties.
I booked Richard to visit and sing for my wife's birthday in February. All I can say is that it was a complete home-run - he brought a friend, multiple instruments and his parrot to complete a 60's-themed hippified day for my Beloved Spouse. She's still smiling... He was relaxed, supremely entertaining and more than happy to work with me on both musical requests and times when it was/was not "safe' to talk, given that this was a surprise visit.
I can't recommend him highly enough.
Had the privilege to hear Richard for the first time last Saturday night. Heard him do a Jim Croce tune and told my daughter "This guy sings and plays like Jose Feliciano!" Did a great job on the Bob Dylan song Wagon Wheel I requested for my grandson.
Response from Richard Benson:
To the degree that the audience enjoys the music, is equivalent to the degree that I get crunk ... and some. Had a great night. Thank you.

One could expect singing and music which caters to the climate of the occasion. Generally I am a happy, upbeat, dynamic and humorous performer who elicits input from the audience about what they want to hear.
Richard Benson is a seasoned musician. Singer, songwriter and entertainer, he has kept alive the spirit of music as a gift that needs to be shared. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, and having lived in states from coast-to-coast, Richard’s style of music has regional flair. He is compared with James Taylor, Eric Clapton, and Willie Nelson. From progressive and upbeat enjoyable sounds to soothing and poetic lullabies, Richard has made friends with many genres of music. Best described as enchanting, Richard’s style is sincere and meaningful while being alluring, inspiring and definitely heartfelt! The depth of his vocal abilities spans the musical scale and brings delight to the ears of all his fans. Richard’s phenomenal ability to speak to each of his listeners when delivering lyrics makes all his songs engaging. His fans are not only prompted to reminisce their treasured memories of the past; it is as if they are enlivened by the fact that both time and the past can merge as friends. Richard boasts proudly that his voice is his strongest instrument; truth well spoken. Not only expert at the art of coupling melody with word, Richard commands the guitar to dance with precision and perfect movement. Richard Benson is a brilliant musician, master songwriter and enchanting singer with the power to make a lasting impression on all who hear him. If music is “the key to life”, it is only because Richard Benson brings his soul to every song he sings.
I use an "L1 Bose" portable Sound system. An awesome, clean and clear sound no matter where you are standing in the room!
