I play banjo, guitar and many other instruments and sing songs. . I can play solo, or work with other musicians forming a duo, trio, etc., up to 9 people.
Variety of music including classic jazz, folk, blues, old-time, oldies, classic rock, 50's & 60's songs, celtic songs, some pop, and more. I love playing events and don't mind learning specific songs for special occasions or catering a set for a certain theme. I can play instrumental music, sing songs, or lead sing-a-longs. I also work in the valley as a music therapist, teacher, and play music for people of all ages
The band I've led since 2006, Yourchestra, focuses on New Orleans style trad-jazz, and songs from the 1920's-1930's
I hired Richard as a surprise for my brother, who celebrates banjo day with a party every year.
My brother and his guests were indeed surprised! Richard was prompt in his arrival, entertained
the varied guests and was a "big hit." Thank you Richard.
Richard Brogan has excellent communication skills, was on time to my event, and very talented! No worries from me through the entire process. I was able to ask him questions before I booked. We setup a time to talk on the phone so I could describe my event and what I was trying to accomplish. I texted a few more times after that with questions which he was great at responding to. I decided I wanted a guitarist as well so he found me an awesome guitarist to add to the night. They showed up early to the event to tune and warm up. Richard was perfectly prompt and easy to talk to. He played songs I had requested and the guests and I loved listening to every minute throughout our dinner time. I am 100% going to plan another event just so I can hire him again. Totally worth it!
Great music and a great guy! We’re looking forward to having him back.
The Band was awesome, nothing but compliments from our guest
Response from Richard Bogen:
Thank You Allan, we all had a great time playing for you!
Richard was a huge hit at our corporate event in Arizona! We had a "Wild West" themed dinner and he worked the room as good as anyone ever could. He was polite, came prepared, he was on time, and was very responsive. We definitely recommend hiring Richard!
Richard and Wayne did a good job performing in front of our people during our event. Everything went according to the plan. Well done.
Thanks so much Richard for coming out to our corporate event. You were on time, had an easy set up, organized with a list of songs you cover, and even brought your own music request forms. The variety of music you performed was fantastic, and people were really into it. I will definitely recommend Richard for events, and look forward to booking you again.
Thanks!

What I do can range from background music to complete audience participation. Many times I play theme events Mardi Gras, Western, Cities/States, Seasons, etc. Other times I may be playing familiar and obscure songs, gauging my audience taste or even taking requests.
People would say that I'm "eclectic" but I've always just loved all kinds of music. I studied drums and percussion since age 10, and not long after that picked up guitar. I studied at ASU and got my degree in music therapy, working with older adults, kids, and teenagers. At ASU I was involved in all the world music ensembles, studied Hindustani vocals, and African drumming which I'm still regularly performing. That was also the time I discovered the banjo and started my band Yourchestra.
Myself, or a group could play entirely acoustically, but it depends on size of venue and length of performance. We can use mics and direct input to perform larger venues. Extra charge for us to bring our own P.A.
