Magic is real. Magic is real, not because a magician finds a card or disappears from stage. Magic is real because you are real. Magic is experienced in moments of beauty, joy, and love. A majestic sunset, smiling with a joke, and in cherished time spent with family and friends. Magic isn't about what is false; magic is about what is most real about each of us, what makes each person unique. Real Magic is what makes us human.
I look forward as we embark on the journey to Discover Real Magic!

When hiring a magician, it's necessary to know what, where, and how you want me to perform. An hour-long stage show is entirely different than three or four hours of strolling, and for the best service I'll need to know what your expectations are.
My stage show is designed to take about an hour (though time has been modified in the past) and focuses on the idea of what magic truly is. In the end, they're tricks and deceptions, but that doesn't mean magic isn't real - I see magic every day in the beauties of the world and in the joy of living. Depending on the nature of your event, I often am also able to customize parts of the show, whether to showcase a person, product, or theme.
My strolling and close-up magic is designed with a similar motivation behind it, but takes on a different life of its own due to the nature of its intimacy. Being able to engage closely with a few people allows for a personal experience for each of them. It's been said that magic happening in the audience's hands is much more powerful than magic happening far away up on a stage, and I can't disagree with that statement. Being able to share something with an individual or a small group allows for a conversation to flow; it just feels more real.

Richard has performed for hundreds of private parties, events, and business functions, twice for America's Got Talent, and recently retired his two-year tenure as house magician at the ImprovBroadway Theatre. Presently, Richard performs nightly on Fremont Street in historic Las Vegas, as well as frequent engagements for private bookings. His show combines a classic old school theatricality and a new school stylistic flair with an innate curiosity of the world, seeking to discover by the end what makes us human. This incredible blend of showmanship with deepfelt humanity creates a one-of-a-kind show that is sure to entertain and move.
For all performances, I will need a green room to prepare in prior to the show. Please have this available at least 30 minutes in advance for strolling performances and 60 minutes in advance for stage shows.
For stage shows, minimum space requirements are 10 feet wide and 8 feet deep. If you have a raised stage or platform, that would be greatly preferable but not absolutely necessary. If your venue is larger, a sound system is necessary; I am happy to use in house systems, or can bring my own if you find that preferable. I'll also provide a written introduction to be read prior to the show.
For strolling shows, the only request I make is to be allowed a brief break every thirty minutes to take a drink of water, visit the restroom, etc.
Harry Houdini has always been my biggest inspiration in magic. His cunning and determination to hone his craft as far as he did has left a legacy not just on magicians but on the world as a whole. Though there are very few illusions of mine which he also performed, I seek to emulate aspects of his style and showmanship, as well as his upright character as a human being.
I also have to credit my parents for being my first audience and for all their support when they encouraged me to follow my dreams. They knew all of my tricks growing up because I showed them time and time again, practicing to get better. I think I now have a trick or two that they actually might not have seen!
Sound system - microphone and speakers (necessary for stage shows in large venues)
3.5 mm audio port and cable to sound system for music (necessary for stage shows)
